CIFS/9000 A.01.05 (Samba 2.0.7) + Windows 2000 + Netscape 4.78
Hi, While migrating from Windoze NT4 to Windoze 2000 we discovered a strange bug. We are running CIFS/9000 (HP's Samba 2.0.7 implementation) on HP-UX 11.00 which is our fileserver for home directories. Windows 2000 clients can connect to that Samba share without problems so far. But when closing Netscape 4.78 the error message "Error saving bookmarks file" appears. But the bookmarks file is written. This problem does not occur when I try the same with a Samba 2.0.10 or 2.0.5 share on Linux or NT native share or when I connect from a Windoze NT4 PC. I monitored the file access with Filemon 4.33 from sysinternals.org which tells me: 426 01:12:26 netscape.exe:440 IRP_MJ_QUERY_INFORMATION U:\winnt\netscape\bookmark.htm SUCCESS FileBasicInformation 427 01:12:26 netscape.exe:440 IRP_MJ_QUERY_SECURITY U:\winnt\netscape\bookmark.htm BUFFER OVERFLOW 428 01:12:26 netscape.exe:440 IRP_MJ_QUERY_SECURITY U:\winnt\netscape\bookmark.htm SUCCESS 429 01:12:26 netscape.exe:440 IRP_MJ_SET_SECURITY U:\winnt\netscape\bookmark.htm ACCESS DENIED The only error line in samba logfile I could find: [2001/09/21 10:18:34, 3, effective(496, 80), real(0, 0)] smbd/error.c:(126) 32 bit error packet at line 83 cmd=160 (SMBnttrans) eclass=c0000023 [Error: Unknown error (35,49152)] Any other who discovered this problem? Maybe it helps when I update the CIFS/9000 version.
