Troubles: samba 2.2.0 dumps core on syslog (HP-UX 10.20)
Dear sambalovers, I have a nasty problem with the latest samba suite. When I enable syslog debug output (--with-syslog), the code seems to loop at one particular place: lib/util_sock.c line 1084. This is on HP-UX 10.20, compiled with standard HP libc and HP ansi compiler (cc -Ae). May 7 17:13:03 galletti smbd.debug[7727]: [2001/05/07 17:13:03, 0, pid=7727, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] lib/util_sock.c:(1084) May 7 17:13:03 galletti last message repeated 39 times Samba crashes in the shared library (libc.sl) on doprnt: a subroutine of sprintf, called in syslog. However, since I seem not to have any other problems with syslog, I suspected something in samba's code. I tried debugging things, but could not find anything. In fact as seen above, the header is really written to syslog. What seems strange to me though is that the message is repeated over and over again (in fact 1794 times during 46 seconds), as if samba is looping internally. After some seconds it gives up and crashes. Although I believe to have also found a HP-UX bug, it doesn't seem normal to me that Samba is repeating this message over and over, without even spitting out the actual debug text of util_sock.c (only the syslog header is printed). Anyone that sees the light?
