Hi, Does anyone have experience with BackupExec and Samba? BackupExec refuse to access Samba shares. Windows shares are OK, but all my Samba shares are not. I have Samba on at least 2 Linux 2.4 machines + 1 on Solaris. Neither ones work with BExec. Any idea? Other have experience with BExec and Samba? Thanks a lot -jec _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Jean-Eric Cuendet Linkvest SA Av des Baumettes 19, 1020 Renens Switzerland Tel +41 21 632 9043 Fax +41 21 632 9090 http://www.linkvest.com E-mail: jean-eric.cuendet@linkvest.com _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

You need to give access to the BackupExec user on the linux boxes, other than that maybe a bit more information on your problems may help. -- Catch you later, |InterNet - <mailto:vk4kij@ecig.com.au> || AmprNet - <mailto:vk4kij@clown.ampr.org> Ian. ||| AX25 - <mailto:vk4kij@vk4kij.#sun.qld.aus.oc> "Never apply a Star Trek solution to a Babylon 5 problem!"
Thanks for your reply. My problem is the following: I have a win2k box running bexec to backup other hosts. - the win2k box can see anyone in the domain (Samba 2.2/2.0.7 + NT) - BExec on this win2k box can see NT/win2k boxes but NOT Samba (both Solaris and Linux and both 2.0.7 and 2.2) The error message in Samba is: "Couldn't find service $" . Any idea? -jec> > Does anyone have experience with BackupExec and Samba? > > I currently have BackupExec v7.0 running on WinNT sp6a box backing up > itself & 2 linux boxes, both runing Samba 2.0.7, each night. > > I do a full backup each time, no incremental ones. > > You need to give access to the BackupExec user on the linux > boxes, other > than that maybe a bit more information on your problems may help. > > -- > Catch you later, |InterNet - <mailto:vk4kij@ecig.com.au> > || AmprNet - <mailto:vk4kij@clown.ampr.org> > Ian. ||| AX25 - <mailto:vk4kij@vk4kij.#sun.qld.aus.oc> > "Never apply a Star Trek solution to a Babylon 5 > problem!" >
