Error: Looping in FIND_NEXT?? w. 2.0.7 & 2.2.0 connecting to WFW 3.11
Hi All, I am using Samba 2.0.7 on OpenBSD, AIX, and Linux, trying to get a directory listing from a Windows for Workgroups 3.11 system, I am getting an error: ( I know, it's ancient, but it's a legacy issue, it's running a proprietary comm program that I can't move onto a newer environment! ) smb: \> dir Error: Looping in FIND_NEXT?? ERRSRV - ERRerror (Non-specific error code.) listing \* 64862 blocks of size 8192. 47478 blocks available smb: \> I checked out the latest CVS( 2.2-alpha??) , compiled it up, and am still getting the same error message. Given the vintage of the Windoze that I am trying to connect to, I figured an older vintage of Samba might have a better chance. I downloaded & compiled samba-1.9.18p8, and it connects fine and gives the directory listing 100 % of the time. Now that I have a workaround, I am not that concerned, but since I have seen messages of 2.2 alpha's floating around, I am not sure if anyone is concerned about this (lack) of backwards compatability? I am a C programmer, and am quite comfortable with system administration, so I would be in a position to help troubleshoot. I did a quick look into the code, and the problem must be more in the session setup, because the calls to cli_dir are pretty much the same.... hummmmm...
