Dear All Firstly Thanks to the Samba team for a great application - our samba servers are greate and very stable! Secoundly I am new to the list - so if I am asking in the wrong place please point me in the right direction. I have used Samba 2.0.x for some time as a Win 9.x server etc... My boss now wants to use the PDC features of 2.1.0 prealpha - specifically the domain logons for NT 4.0 clients. We then wish to move the roving profiles onto the samba box. I have tried to compile a CVS snapshot - yet the ./configure fails with the following errors: checking if large file support can be enabled no checking configure summary WARNING: No automated network interface determination ERROR: no seteuid method available configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config I am using the pgcc compiler with: gcc -O6 -mcpu=pentium -march=pentium -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-exceptions -malign-double - although this complies a 2.0.6 set-up ok! A CVS snapshot from Saturday complies with a few warnings, and then smbd and SWAT fail to work - in the smb.log appears to start smbd, yet when trying to browse / use a share the following error(s) is seen: [root@duck2 greg]# ../bin/smbclient -L duck -U root Added interface ip=192.168.0.168 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Password: Got a positive name query response from 192.168.0.50 ( 192.168.0.168 ) failed session setup failed session setup The root user / smb.conf file and smbpassword file all work under a 2.0.6 install! I am not a C expert and I have had a good read of all the documentation / mailing list archives yet cannot find any pointers. IS CVS broken or am I being thick ? Are we being premature and should we wait for the official 2.1 ? Any ideas help would be greatly appreciated Greg Cope
