samba - Sep 1998 - AIX v 4.2

I am trying to run Samba on AIX 4.2 with C for AIX 4.3.
I have tried patch 4, 7 and 8 so far and all fail in the same manner.
Explorer hangs.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I can post log file if it helps.
