Printer status is slowing down my pc. etc.
HI All. I am using samba release 1.9.18p1 on a HPUX 10.20. I have some problems when using samba as a print spooler to the unix spool system: 1) When my printer needs paper, the windows NT 3.51 print manager says to me, that I do not have the permissions to delete the printer? When I add paper the problem is gone. 2) If a printer is turned off, my pc/windows NT 3.51 is running very slow, ie. hangs, if the printer is the default printer, when lpstat command timeout or the printer is turned on - no problem. This is the print output from testparm: printing = hpux print command = lp -c -d%p %s; rm %s lpq command = /usr/bin/lpstat %p lprm command = /usr/bin/cancel %p-%j lppause command = /usr/bin/lpalt %p-%j -p0 lpresume command = /usr/bin/lpalt %p-%j -p2 Can any help me? PS: I know this is not a NT listing, but I have a few NT questions: 1) Is there a suite of problems that makes the NT box look a bit like a unix, ie. remsh, telnet, etc? 2) Is there a product, that enables you to work on the NT console, from you own pc? Best regards Thomas Hansen
