hello all, while I''m upgrading mysql from 4.0 to 5.0, rails complain "Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client" any idea about it?

Do you run Linux? CentOS or RHEL perhaps? You can use the yum utility (or apt-get) to install the newest distro if you have admin privs. http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html That page has source/rpms for every component.
