I am pleased to announce Version 0.3 of DT_Logger: DT_Logger is a configurable data logging suite, intended for "set and forget" operation. It differs from ordinary DTrace usage in several respects: * Dozens of probes are commonly used at the same time. * Sets of probes may be defined and used as desired. * DT_Logger is generally run in the background. * The tracing may go on for (many) days. * The output is both human- and machine-readable. http://www.cfcl.com/twiki/bin/view/Projects/DT_Logger/WebHome Version 0.3 Refactoring release (2008.0302) This version is a substantial refactoring (eg, Perl and CPP to Ruby and YAML). It also makes administration more powerful, convenient, etc. Operational scripts (dt_ctl, dt_format, dt_record) - mainline scripts are now written in Ruby - a control script (dt_ctl) has been added Probes - the syscall probes are generated from a YAML configuration file - similar probes are multiplexed (shared) between system calls - some syscall probes have been added Miscellany - DTL is considerably more robust - the documentation is a bit improved Status - This version appears to work well on Leopard. - This version has not been tried on any other OS. -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm at cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Technical editing and writing, programming, and web development
