LDAP is the way to go. It is in fact, the only Address Book protocol
that all of those above e-mail programs are capable of using and more to
the point, only Evolution is capable of being anything other than a
read-only client.
There is no one best way and LDAP is a system administration hurdle that
probably is a lot to tackle if your only aspiration is a group address
book. If however, you have a lan with a number of users, LDAP can unify
all of the various systems with a common login (the same user id across
computers/platforms), a common home directory (across
computers/platforms).
