Hi, I am currently evaluating asterisk, I've upgraded to -head to get G.726 support. I seem to get a segfault when placing a call between G.729 (open source) and G.726. Is this expected? Apart from 'don't do that' what are my options? Thanks, Adam.
I think g729 does not work with current head. |Also g726 is also in 1.0.X On Tue, 26 Oct 2004 17:05:58 +0100, Adam Greenbaum <lists@refinitive.com> wrote:> Hi, > > I am currently evaluating asterisk, I've upgraded to -head to get G.726 > support. > I seem to get a segfault when placing a call between G.729 (open > source) and G.726. The 1.0.2 release has g726. bkw> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Adam Greenbaum > Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 11:06 AM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] G.726 > > Hi, > > I am currently evaluating asterisk, I've upgraded to -head to get G.726 > support. > I seem to get a segfault when placing a call between G.729 (open > source) and G.726. I would buy a $10 license of Digium's g.729 and do some testing with that. From what people have told me, that "open source" g.729 implementation causes crashes, performs more poorly, and just isn't a good idea. There are people that have had some success with it, but for me, $10 is a pretty fair price to do some testing with, if g.729 is what you need. Kevin, Are you looking for references for an actual "implementation" by someone on Asterisk? I think those who replied to your post do not understand the meaning of "Where can I find the open source G.729 implementation?". Call me stupid, but I too don't understand the difference. As far as I remember, the implementation that was referred several times in this thread is the same as http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/g729/ It is the diff file that generates the codedc_g729.so file when compiled. Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of the Intel G.729 library code is either open or free. An open source implementation has been referred to several times in this thread. I'm just wondering where I can find it. -------------------------------------------------------- NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender.
