[Asterisk-Users] Problem with character encoding in SIP channel (ISO vs. UTF-8)
Hi I recently noticed that asterisk passes Caller IDs and SendText messages containing sepcial characters (such as the german umlaut characters ???) with ISO-8859-1 encoding to the SIP phone. Hence user names and text strings like "M?ller" are not correctly displayed on the receiving phone. According to RFC 3261 SIP uses UTF-8 encoding. Shouldn't asterisk convert these characters from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8 before passing them to SIP devices? Best regards martin -- Martin A. Blatter | lic. oec. publ.
