My assumption has been that the use case would have been very small when the assumptions and decisions were originally created many decades ago, but that it is consistently expanding through the ongoing evolution of technology, for example, through SMB, SOHO, IoT, and so. Thus, as I have argued, it is now sensible to consider including support in future development.

We do try to meet the interests of our broader user community into account, and so much of what we do is win-win - because we care - but there is no Roadmap to add such a wishlist to, with any expectation that someone would just pick it up. Therefore the best way to influence Samba development is to be involved in Samba development, because tested patches talk most. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Contribute Andrew Bartlett -- Andrew Bartlett (he/him) https://samba.org/~abartlet/ Samba Team Member (since 2001) https://samba.org Samba Team Lead, Catalyst IT https://catalyst.net.nz/services/samba Samba Development and Support, Catalyst IT - Expert Open Source Solutions
