You can safely go from 4.8.1 to 4.8.2. It's advised not to perform in place upgrades when moving from 4.7.x to 4.8.0 or 4.8.1. In place upgrades from 4.7.x to 4.8.2 should work as intended now. --

It also seems to be a problem if you join 4.8.0 or 4.8.1 as DC. Rowland
