Cairo on windows
Hi All, I just installed Cairo on R 2.5.1 on windows XP. My hope was to get to see the transparency output e.g. http://had.co.nz/ggplot2/stat_smooth.html ggplot2 - stat_smooth , which I finally managed to do. However, I find the Cairo device, which I access either through CairoWin() or Cairo(type="win"), is pretty shaky in a number of respects : - whatever portion of the Cairo

R compare cells in one matrix
Good morning! Please, could you help me with the problem? I have a matrix *144x73.* An example of a matrix: [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [1,] 277.4 276.24 275.62 276.55 278.05 [2,] 277.4 276.24 275.55 276.42 277.72 [3,] 277.4 276.24 275.50 276.22 277.39 [4,] 277.4 276.24 275.42 276.02 277.02 [5,] 277.4 276.22 275.37 275.82 276.64 And I want to *compare*its cells

converting a character string to a subscripted numeric variable
Dear R-helpers: It seems that I have a mental block. (Some say that it sits atop my shoulders.) For reasons too tedious to retell I have an R object: > input.line[7] [1] "-13.24, -11.24, -9.24, -7.24, -5.24, -3.24, -1.24, 0.76, 2.76, 4.76, 6.76, 8.76, 10.76, 12.76, 14.76, 16.76, 18.76, 20.76, 22.76, 24.76, 26.76, 28.76, 30.76, 32.76, 34.76, 36.76, 38.76, 40.76, 42.76, 44.76, "

Repeated Measures Analysis - GLM
Hello to the R world... I have some problems regarding a GLM - repeated measures analysis. I want to test overall differences between AgeClass and Treatment (between subject) with OpenR1+OpenR2+OpenR3 (repeated measures, within subject). The table looks kind like this: AgeClass Treatment OpenR1 OpenR2 OpenR3 1 1 0 0 12.63 1 1 12.67 3.83 45.67 1 1 38.46 65.38 75.21 1 1 14.46 0 17.96 1 2 27.83

solve() doesn`t work
Hi, I tried to inverse a matrix but it doesn`t work. I hope somebody can help me. This is what I did. > kurse <- read.table("kurse.txt", header=T, dec=",") > x <- cbind(1,kurse[,-c(1)]) > y <- kurse$index > t(x) %*% x Error in t(x) %*% x : requires numeric matrix/vector arguments > x <- as.matrix(x) > xtxi <- solve(t(x) %*% x) Error in

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi I'm trying to setup a 3 node gluster, and am hitting huge performance bottlenecks. The 3 servers are connected over 10GB and glusterfs is set to create a 3 node replica. With a single VM performance was poor, but I could have lived with it. I tried to stress it by putting copies of a bunch of VMs on the servers and seeing what happened with parallel nodes.. network load never broke

Help with parsing a data file
Hi All, I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13 values data for that year. The file then repeats this format with (year, 13 lines of data for that year). I would ideally like to end up with an

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi, So is the KVM or Vmware as the host(s)? I basically have the same setup ie 3 x 1TB "raid1" nodes and VMs, but 1gb networking. I do notice with vmware using NFS disk was pretty slow (40% of a single disk) but this was over 1gb networking which was clearly saturating. Hence I am moving to KVM to use glusterfs hoping for better performance and bonding, it will be interesting to see

Inflate Error?
I've been getting this error message for a few days from a customer's server and we can't seem to decipher it. I googled for it and only found references to it with respect to much older versions of rsync. We're running the Debian packaged version of rsync version 2.6.2-3. The customer side is running 2.6.3 compiled from source. #### inflate (token) returned -5 rsync error:

R does not recognise columns and rows as they are supposed to be
Dear All, The code given bellow is to extract values of one region and write that to a text file(there are 365 binary files in the directory). The problem which I am facing is that all my files are binary with size of 360 rows and 720 columns. I specified that in this line: file2<-matrix(data=file,ncol=720,nrow=360) but I got an error : Error in mean(file2[X, Y], na.rm = TRUE) : subscript

DGESDD from Lapack for R-1.4.0?
Hi, I'm just wondering if it is planned to include the Lapack routine DGESDD (and friends) in R-1.4.0? This is faster (supposedly by a factor of ~6 for large matrices) than DGESVD which is currently (R-1.3.1) called by La.svd. And if it is not in the plans yet, is there a chance it could be? I've added it to my local version of R-1.3.1 and so far see a factor of 4 improvement over
