Cuando hice la importación (con dd<-read.csv('mortality.csv'), tuve problemas con las filas de nombre: - Malignant tumour of the larynx trachea bronchus and lungs - Malignant tumour of the lip pharynx and mouth - Other endocrinological metabolic and nutritional conditions

label outliers in geom_boxplot (ggplot2)
Dear List and Hadley, I would like to have a boxplot with ggplot2 and have the outlier values labelled with their "name" attribute. So I did > library(ggplot2) > dat=data.frame(num=rep(1,20), val=c(runif(18),3,3.5), name=letters[1:20]) > p=ggplot(dat, aes(y=val, x=num))+geom_boxplot(outlier.size=4, outlier.colour="green") >

PDF fonts problem
Dear List, I am writing a paper in Hungarian, that I Sweave and than pdfLaTeX. Everything is fine, except for two accented letters in the graphs that behave strange, though on the screen and in eps exports they look perfect. The problem is that I need pdf graphs, since I would like to have a PDF after LaTeX-ing. For the example below I downloaded the following two font sets: 1. Latin Modern

testing for significance in random-effect factors using lmer
Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to obtain a value of significance for random effects when aplying the lme or related functions. The default output in R is just a variance and standard deviation measurement. I feel it would be possible to obtain the significance of these random effects by comparing models with and without these effects. However, I'm not used to perform

Hola, El problema está con el nombre de las columnas y las filas del fichero que importas. Mira este detalle tras hacer la importación: > names(mort) [1] "X" "X15.24..79." "X25.34..79." [4] "X35.44..79." "X45.54..79." "X55.64..79." [7] "X65.74..79." "X75.84..79."

Question on Asterisk 1.8 and Wait()
When I switched to 1.8 from 1.4 I am getting this error pbx.c:4055 pbx_extension_helper: No application 'Wait,1' for extension (default, s, 1) http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+-+documentation+of+application+commands This page says its in 1.0 and I dont think has been removed. Did I do something wrong? Everything else seems to be ok. Thanks, Jerry

Another oddity - users get no ftp (no ftpd) on latest update from CentOS 5.0
The subject pretty much says it all. My ftp comes back with "ftp: ftp/tcp: unknown service" - unless I run it as root, in which case it works just fine. What's going on here? Did I screw up a setting of mine or something? Thanks. mhr -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Another CentOS 5 oddity: reboot and the X server fails to come up
I had to reboot my work machine today, and it came up in text mode (!). I did an init 5, but that had no effect (wrong command?). I killed the three gdm processes, and voila, X server mode. Where do I look to find out what is not right here? Thanks. -- Mark Hull-Richter, Linux Kernel Engineer DATAllegro (www.datallegro.com) 85 Enterprise, Second Floor, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 949-680-3082 -

My server comes up in run-level 5 but I have to hit ctrl-alt-f7 to switch to the x-server screen. It doesn't switch to it

Oddity with 4.5 and linode.com
I just did a "yum update" on my linode instance to update from 4.4 to 4.5. That worked just fine. But on reboot it took 3 minutes to do the "checking for new hardware" stage. I initially thought that's because of a new release, so I did another reboot. That also took 2 minutes. OK, a minor issue (I don't reboot often) but... dunno if this is a UML issue or a linode

Oddity with kernel built under CentOS 5.0
Yesterday I found a need to have the NTFS module support in my CentOS 5.0 at home, so I happily installed the 8.1.4 source, prepped it (after deleting the rhel and olpc lines per Johnny's notice earlier in this list), made the config with a ".nx" version name using make menuconfig (copying the config from the SOURCES directory, editing it to include the # x86_64 line and copying it

Inplace editor oddity
I''m having issues handling output of a inplace editor function. When the controller action is successful, it returns the new value that populates the DIV and all is well. When it fails, it sends a js alert to the user. The problem is, after it sends the alert (and the user clicks OK) it then spits back the try/catch javascript code which gets inserted into the DIV. I''ve tried

Minor 4.4 upgrade oddity
I ran "yum upgrade" early yesterday from a remote ssh login, but upon looking at the set of packages I decided to wait until I could sit at the console to reboot. So I declined to proceed with the upgrade when prompted. Later when I ran "yum ugrade" again, it found no packages to update. After some poking around checking the mirrors, running "yum clean headers",

Oddity running software from "The learning Company"
We got a "freebie" CD-ROM at a drive through that is produced by "The Learning Company". After installing dcom98, adding the registry settings to allow creation of desktop icons, and getting wine to say it was win98, I finally got the thing to install. The application main menu runs, but when it call "start.exe" to start the actual game, everything exits cleanly and

IE6-7 Observe Document Oddity - mouseup
I''ve come to the recent need to know when the scrollbar has been grasped and let go. However, I''ve worked my way into a corner using Event.observe on the document (window wouldn''t work for me at all in Internet Explorer 6 & 7). Oddly enough, it works for mouse down... just not up. I''ve attached a simple functional test file. Expected Results:
