Problem in installing packages on linux machine...
Hi, I am trying to install RSQLite package on my Fedora workstation. I tried to install other packages as well, but each time I got the same error messages saying "compilation error" and "non zero exit status". Do I have to specify "lib="? I never specified the library path before when I was using Fedora Core 6. Warning in install.packages("RSQLite")

SQL like function?
Hi RUsers, I am wonder if I can search observations whose IDs matches any of the values in another vector, such as in MySQL. While I am learing MySQL for future database management, I appreciate if anyone could give me a hint. Suppose I have one 5*1 vector containing observation IDs and frequencies, and one 3*1 vector containing observation IDs. observation<-c(1,2,3,4,5) ID<-c(1,3,4)

problems in read.table
Dear R-users, I have encountered the following problem every now and then. But I was dealing with a very small dataset before, so it wasn't a problem (I just edited the dataset in Openoffice speadsheet). This time I have to deal with many large datasets containing commuting flow data. I appreciate if anyone could give me a hint or clue to get out of this problem. I have a .dat file

combining datasets by row
Rusers, I am trying to append multiple .csv files of different dimensions (but # of columns are the same for all .csv files). I do have .csv files whose names are CA1.csv ~ CA100.csv. CA means california and 1 means the first file. So what I have been doing (after googling how to append by row multiple files) was: cleanup_data<-function(state,count) { out<-matrix() for (i in 1:

dataframes of unequal size
I have two dataframes C and C1. Each has three columns viz. state, psu and weight. The dataframes are of unequal size i.e. C1 could be 2/25/50 rows and C has 42000 rows. C1 is the master table i.e. C1$state, C1$psu and C1$weight are never the same. ThisA. P., Urban, 0 is not so for C. For example C state, psu, weight A. P., Urban, 0 Mah., Rural, 0 W.B., Rural,0 Ass., Rural,0 M. P., Urban,0 A. P.,

R Compilation error on Ubuntu
Hi I bought a new laptop HP dv9500 just a week ago and installed a Ubuntu gutsy ribbon on this laptop. I wanted to install Fedora but there are more threads on Ubuntu, so I decided to install Ubuntu. After hours of struggle in configuring x server/graphic card stuff, I installed R for Gutsy ribbon using "sudo apt-get install g77 r-core'. Now when I tried to install 'sp' package

calling svydesign function that uses model.frame
I need help on calling the svydesign function in the survey package (although this error appears not to be specific to svydesign). I am passing parameters incorrectly but am not sure how to correct the problem. ## Call the main function PS.sim (one of mine). The dots are parameters I omitted to simplify the question. ## y.col, str.col, clus.id, and PS.col are names of columns in the object pop.

UPS Groups?
I've used nut for simple configurations before but now one has grown to a more complex setup and can't seem to find any info online. I would like to have single central nut master monitor a bank of UPSs for a whole rack of servers with redundant PSUs. So UPS A1 ---> Server group A PSU 1 UPS A2 ---> Server group A PSU 2 UPS B1 ---> Server group B PSU 1 UPS B2 ---> Server

include directory and all files under
Sorry, but it seems everytime I setup a different rsync operation (client only) I end up here unraveling the include/exclude stuff I need. The documentation is quite good but I guess the subject is just quite a bit to chew. To cut to the chase: I want to sync up my own snapshot repository of openbsd. The basic install files. R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN
Dear Ubunutu R users, Vincent Goulet and myself would like to announce the availability of R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu's latest release, Lucid Lynx. The packages should be on or arriving soon to your favorite mirror. R 2.11.0 packages also exist on CRAN for all Ubuntu releases going back to hardy. As Johannes Ranke pointed out for the Debian release, R packages installed under R < 2.10.0

Various Errors using Survey Package
Hi, I have been experimenting with the new Survey package. Specifically, I was trying to use some of the functions on the public-use survey data from NHIS (2000 Sample Adult file). Error 1): The first error I get is when I try to specify the complex survey design. nhis.design<-svydesign(ids=~psu, probs=~probs, strata=~strata, data=nhis.df, check.strata=TRUE) Error in svydesign(ids =

saving plots as objects?
Hi I had two questions regarding plots: * Is there are way to save a plot in the form of an object such that it could be displayed/modified later? * I've been using Minitab for some work and I found the burshing capability very handy (it allows me to choose a point on the graph and displays the data associated with it - x,y and other user associated data). I know that this feature is

Prefered Method for UPS?
Hello, since I had delayed the programming of the UPS Device part, now it is time to continue... My Device is "24 V DC modular ATX PSU" which replace the standard ATX Power Supply in PCs and use 15-43 V Input Voltage. The microcontroller is a TI LM3S5T36 Cortex M3 and I get the "UPS" infos using up to 4 Maxim DS1780 and some I?C current sensors. The ATX PSU has 4

Half-life: Day of Defeat problems.
Hey, I have been having day of defeat fps problems. It's like some maps I get a constant 90 fps and on others I can barely reach 60. I shouldn't be having fps trouble on a game that's almost 10 years old. So I was wondering if there's anything I can do to keep my fps at 90 all the time on all maps. So if someone could please help me, that would be great! Thanks! p.s. My specs
