S4 slot with NA default
Hi
How do I specify an S4 class with a slot that is potentially numeric,
but NA
by default? I want the slot to be NA until I calculate its value
(an expensive operation, not needed for all applications). When
its value is
known, I will create a new object with the correct value inserted in
the slot.
I want "NA" to signify "not known".
My attempt fails because

'libRblas.so' missing in R 2.12.1
Dear R developers,
I just compiled the latest version of R (2.12.1) and noticed that 'libRblas.so' is missing in the '/x86_64/src/extra/blas' subdirectory of my
R-installation.
Did I miss ongoing discussions on the Mailinglist about this or might it be a local problem?
Thanks for this brilliant software.
Best

warnings although R CMD check runs without any problem
Dear list members,
as I am new to R, I would kindly like to ask for your help.
I checked a package with the 'R CMD check' command and all worked out
well, (only 'OK' status). Loading its vignette afterwards with
'source("package.Rcheck/inst/doc/vignette.R")' yields a message saying
that several (well, in my case more than 50) warnings still exist and

troubles with a for loop
Dear all,
I am a stata user and I am moving my first steps in R.
I am dealing with a silly issue concerning looping over variables. I read
previous posts on similar topics in the R help archive, but I did not find a
solution.
Here is my case:
I run a simple bivariate linear regression saving the output in objects
called: pd.memb.0, pd.memb.1, pd.memb.2, pd.memb.3

building in AIXV5.3 using the IBM C for AIX compiler V6.0
What fun. I don't often stoke up the boiler and actually compile
open-source code, but here I am at the beginning of just such a joyous
and wondrous adventure.
I'm running the latest level of AIX (V5.3...V4.3 has been obsolete for
at least, what, 5 years) and using the IBM compiler (xlc is similarly
obsolete, from back when the compiler came with the O/S...oh, for the

I have a matrix of membership degrees, with 82 (i) rows and K coloumns, K
are clusters.
I need first and second largest elements of the i-th row.

Possible memory leak in loop.
I was trying to use memory.size() to determine whether a code loop I am
executing created a memory leak, since one replicate of the simulation
takes 670.98 seconds according to proc.time(), while 5 replicates takes
170762 seconds. So I set it up as:
memA <- memory.size()
looping code...
memB <- memory.size()
memA returns as 9.3, and memB returns 11.3. I'm not familiar with

wrong size displayed with df after upgrade to 3.12.6
Hi Stefan,
There is a known issue with gluster 3.12.x builds (see [1]) so you may be
running into this. Please take a look at [1] and try out the workaround
provided in the comments.

wrong size displayed with df after upgrade to 3.12.6
Dear all,
I have a problem with df after I upgraded from 3.12.4 to 3.12.6
All four bricks are shown als online, and all bricks are being used.
gluster v stats shows the correct sizes for all devices.
However, df does not show the correct glusterfs volume size.
It seems to me that it "forgets" one brick. Although all bricks are used when I'm writing files.
best wishes,
Stefan

Naming functions for the purpose of profiling
Hi all,
I have some long-running code that I'm trying to profile. I am seeing a
lot of time spent inside the <Anonymous> function. Of course, this can
in fact be any of several functions, but I am unable to see how I could
use the information from Rprof.out to discern which function is taking
the most time. An example line from my Rprof.out is:

graphics output produces corrupt/empty files
Hi there.
as a newbie I figured out the basics of R but when it came to graphic
output it was a bad surprise.
All but the X11 device do not function properly. Most of them generate
an empty file and pdf() produces non valid output (gs and acroread as well).
Very annoying, because I have to write a report.
I got the recent stable binary rpm (v1.6.2) from CRAN on a SuSE Linux 8.1.
Any help?

Possible bug, Rprof() and scan(pipe()) (PR#1140)
This looks like a bug?
Unable to use scan(pipe()) while profiling.
I have no idea whether this version of R violates the
"do not use `Rprof' in an executable built for profiling"
warning in ?Rprof.
Thanks
