Retrieving x argument name from a trellis object in R 2.8.0
Dear all,
let consider the following function:
Fun1 <- function() {
library(lattice)
plot1 <- 1:10~1:10
pl1 <- xyplot(plot1)
return(pl1$call$x)
}
In R 2.5.0 (or older version) we have
> Fun1()
plot1
but starting from R 2.5.1 until the latest R 2.8.0 we obtain instead
> Fun1()
NULL
because pl1$call seems to be equal to xyplot() without arguments.

multiphasic growth curve analysis
Greetings R Help Group,
How does one effect a multiphasic logistic growth model with 4 phases (e.g. Koops 1986; Weigel, Craig, Bidwell and Bates 1992; Grossman and Koops 2003) with R.
Before writing to the group, the R help archives were searched, the web was searched with Google, Venables and Ripley 2002 was consulted, Pinheiro and Bates 2000 was consulted, Bates and Watts 2007 was bought and

Sweave and graphics
Dear R-Users
I think I am getting the hang of how sweave works. However there is one
thing I am struggling with - nice small size graphics.
Here is the piece of the Rnw file that creates the figures.
<<pl1,fig=TRUE,include=FALSE,echo=false>>=
#pdf(file="datapl1.pdf",paper="a4",width=0,height=0);

where did ggplot go?
This must be explained somewhere, but I've been searching for a couple of
hours and not found it.
What happened to ggplot? It appears to be missing on CRAN, except in the
archives.

Has ggplot2 replaced ggplot?
I was trying to run some examples and found that "pscontinuous" and "ggline"
are not part of ggplot2.

Apache attacks - you can't stop them, or can you?
So I have this nice, simple web server up running. Its purpose is to
allow me external testing with HIP, and to provide some files for
external distribution. Of course, there it is sitting on port 80 and
the attacks are coming in per logwatch report. Examples from the report
include:

autocorrelation in gams
Hi,
I am looking at the effects of two explanatory variables on chlorophyll.
The data are an annual time-series (so are autocorrelated) and the
relationships are non-linear. I want to account for autocorrelation in
my model.
The model I am trying to use is this:
Library(mgcv)
gam1 <-gam(Chl~s(wintersecchi)+s(SST),family=gaussian,
na.action=na.omit, correlation=corAR1(form =~

Need help as Pl2 tests not performing as expected
Hello guys. I just ran the updated tests for PL2 and they are not giving
the mset order I expect.Now,the thing is, dfr's behavior is a bit hard to
predict and so even if I expect a particular order ,it may give another
order and still be correct.So,the only way to write correct tests for PL2
is to manually calculate the weight of the documents to decide the expected
order.For that,I need to

[ggplot] controlling axis and major/minor tick marks
Hello there!
I'm starting with ggplot and was wondering how I could control the axis
of a plot. I would like the axis of the plot to be drawn black which I
thought to acheive with the option axis.colour="black". However, this
had no real effect on the plot. Then I found grid.colour which I changed
to black as well. Now I got my axis as I wanted them, but ggplot now
draws the grid

ggplot2 argument handling odd
Hello there,
I'm trying to do lots of plots in one for-loop. But somehow ggplot does
not evaluate arguments as expected. Here is an example:
library(lattice)
library(ggplot2)
pl <- list()
pl2 <- list()
cDat <- as.data.frame(cbind(x1=0:100,x2=0:10,x3=1:20))
for(obs in c("x1", "x2")) {
pl[[obs]] <- xyplot(cDat[,obs] ~ cDat[,"x3"], main=obs)

"Bad type" when setting PML4 on x86_64
I''m to porting a lightweight kernel to Xen 3.0.4-x86_64 and have
run into a problem while setting the PML4. Xen complains that
it has a bad type of ''PGT_writable_page'' (e8000001), while it expects
80000000.
However, I''m almost certain that this is not the case. I added a routine
to do a depth first search of the four page table levels looking for this

Major Mistake in pL2 tests in the pull request
Hello guys.I just realized that Ive not set the weighting scheme to PL2 in
the tests for PL2 and so a default weighting scheme of BM25 is used. I am
extremely sorry for this and am updating the tests by setting the weighting
scheme to PL2.

[LLVMdev] Is address space 1 reserved?
> C requires that (void*)0 generates a pointer that does not compare equal to any valid pointer. It does not require that (void*)foo, where foo is an int of value 0 but not an integer constant expression, give the same value,
Does this mean constant propagation can change program semantics?

ITheoraEncodeSettings C# interop
My apologies if this is considered somewhat off-topic but I presume that
this information may be may also be of use to others using these
filters.
Is there someone with a better understanding of COM than I have who can
tell me where I'm going wrong with the following C# interface
definition?
I can set and recover a quality setting using this interface but not the
isUsingQualityMode flag. Not
