ftables package, zero rows
dear all, i'm just about to do some straightforward contingency tables using ftables (and ctab() for percents). the problem: factor "a" are regions, factor "b" are subregions. every region "a" consists of some subregions "b", but obviously not every subregion "b" is part of every region "a". if i use the ftable() function, the

(multiway) percentage tables
R has amazing capabilities, but percentage tables are a weak spot IMHO. There's prop.table but that's rather unwieldly, especially for multiway tables. CrossTable by Marc Schwartz in the gregmisc library makes percentage tables a breeze but is limited to two-way tables. So I decided to try my own hand at writing an R-function that would make it easy to produce nicely formatted percentage

prop.table on three-way table?
Dear list, I am trying to create a three-way table with percent occurrence instead of raw frequencies. However, I cannot get the results I expected: I have the following table: > ftable(table( mannerDF$agem, mannerDF$target, mannerDF$manner )) <snip> 50 bak 0 0 0 0 1 0 pak 0 0 0 0 3 0 sak

crosstab for n-way contingency tables
Dear list. New to R, I'm looking for a way of using crosstab to output low-dimensional (higher than 2) contingency tables (frequencies, per-cents by rows, % by columns, mean, quantiles....) I'm looking for something of the following sort dataframe: singers, categorical variates: voice category (soprano,mezzo-soprano, ...) , voice type( drammatic, spinto, lirico-spinto, lirico,

Question about htb class
Hi everyone. I''m new to this list and I have some questions regarding HTB class. I was trying to see how tc sets the parameters for HTB, but really couldnt understand them. So, I thought that I might ask the wizards. It''s mainly from the source code. 1. What is the cell_log ? (its everywhere in the code) 2. Why does htb calculate its burst(buffer) with tc_xmit_time() ? Is

xtable with Sweave
Hi, I'm using Sweave to prepare a descriptive report. Are at least 20 tables built with xtable command of kind: <<echo=F, results=hide>>= q5 = factor(Q5, label=c("N?o", "Sim")) (q5.tab = cbind(table(q5))) @ <<echo=F, results=tex>>= xtable(q5.tab, align="l|c", caption.placement = "top", table.placement='H') @ I'm

quick xtable questions
Hi, I'm creating a lot of tables in a file for inclusion in a Latex document. When I try to compile that document there is an error "too many unprocessed floats." Is there a way to correct this? Also, in a Latex table I want R to put in a $\beta$ in the caption, but it puts a weird system character instead of the \b Brian

render not able to locate template in publisher
Hi guys, I have a publisher called UserPublisher setup in models directory of my app. The reason I have it in a model is because its then possible for me to invoke publisher methods in after_callbacks of my other models, just the way we do it for ActionMailer. My problem is that when I try to update a users profile specifying location of the view template as a paramater to "profile"

Constructing arguments for plotmath
Colleagues, I am encountering difficulty adding formatted text to a graphic. Specifically, I want to add a superscript in the middle of a text string but I would like to format the text string on the fly. The commands: plot(1,1) ARG <- bquote('TEXT'^'\u00ae') mtext(ARG, line=-2, side=1) yield the desired output. However, my goal is to paste together a string, then pass

[Somewhat OT] Integrating RSpec and RCov results in Gem''s RDoc
I have a Gem on which the testing is done with RSpec. I would like to include the results of RSpec and the RCov html files in the RDoc. The problem is that when I have RDoc include the files, it winds up escaping all the html. Is there a way to get HTML into RDoc unprocessed? Or is there some other way I can distribute the RSpec/RCov results with my Gem integrated with RDoc? I can include

Sieve rule issue with certain character sets
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a global sieve rule in place to filter mailing-lists. This has worked well so far. Recently however one subscriber on a list seems to create strange character set encodings in the 'From' and 'To' headers. This leads to unprocessed/unfiltered mails (no errors thrown). Is this a configuration or Pigeonhole issue (latest HG used)?

[PATCH 1/2] Runtime configuration of HTB''s HYSTERESIS option (kernel)
The HTB qdisc has a compile time option, HTB_HYSTERESIS, that trades accuracy of traffic classification for CPU time. These patches change hysteresis to be a runtime option under the control of "tc". The effects of HYSTERESIS on HTB''s accuracy are significant (see chapter 7, section 7.3.1, pp 69-70 in Jesper Brouer''s thesis: http://www.adsl-optimizer.dk/thesis/ ),

mcl models, percentages
I've put two packages for R on my home page at http://www.xs4all.nl/~jhckx/R/. The "pcnt" package is for multiway percentage tables. I've posted a first effort called "ctab" on this group and a request for enhancing "ftable" with percentages on the wishlist. The "mcl" package is for estimating multinomial logistic models using conditional logistic

Active Record save doesn''t save! (more detail - is this a bug?)
I got it to work by changing scheduled_end_date= nil to self.scheduled_end_date= nil. I believe these statements should be equivilent. I don''t know Ruby/Rails well enough to know when, if or why that should matter. Can someone educate me please? I want to believe this framework is ready for production work, but silently dropping data is a very big problem. I expect that I''ve

by() and CrossTable()
I am attempting to produce crosstabulations between two variables for subgroups defined by a third factor variable. I'm using by() and CrossTable() in package gmodels. I get the printing of the tables first and then a printing of each level of the INDICES. For example: library(gmodels) by(warpbreaks, warpbreaks$tension, function(x){CrossTable(x$wool, x$breaks > 30,
