enty-wise closest element
Dear R-users, i have a simple problem maybe, but i don't see the solution. i want to find the entry-wise closest element of an vector compared with another. ind1<-c(1,4,10) ind2<-c(3,5,11) for (i in length(ind2):1) { print(which.min(abs(ind1-ind2[i]))) } for ind2[3] it should be ind1[3] 10, for ind2[2] it should be ind1[2] 4 and for ind2[1] it should be ind1[1] 1. but with the

(mail_cache_add): assertion
Hi, I currently use rc2 on FreeBSD AMD64. Are there any news regarding this Bug: mail-cache-transaction.c: line 709 (mail_cache_add): assertion failed: (fixed_size == (unsigned int)-1 || fixed_size == data_size)? I read that access to an 64bit-machine could help you. Feel free to contact me. Greetings from germany, Daniel -- GMX DSL-Flatrate 0,- Euro* - ?berall, wo DSL verf?gbar ist! NEU: Jetzt

Dear R users, i try to integrate lgamma from 0 to Inf. But here i get the message "roundoff error is detected in the extrapolation table", if i use 1.0e120 instead of Inf the computation works, but this is against the suggestion of integrates help information to use Inf explicitly. Using stirlings approximation doesnt bring the solution too. ## Stirlings approximation lgammaApprox

https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/
Hi, https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/ says that pst-barcode is included in texlive. I installed texlive, and it can?t find pst-barcode.sty. Is that a bug in the packaging Centos does, or is texlive in Centos some derelict version?

R license for a derived data-only package
I'm looking for guidance or advice about the R license to use in preparing a package containing the Baseball Database from http://baseball1.com/statistics/ My main purpose is to make it available to students in a course, and to develop it with others I'd like to put it on R-Forge, and then perhaps make it public on CRAN. However, the page above bears a very restrictive copyright notice

Recent version of Latex
I've moved most of my user's PCs from OpenSuse (11.x, unmaintainend now) to CentOS 6.4. On my old OpenSuse latex was "texlive-latex-2010" and current version on CTAN is texlive-2013. But on CentOS 6.4 I've only the old texlive-latex-2007 and several sty files available on my previous config are not available now and users cannot compile their previous documents. Is

New package CreditMetrics
Dear R useRs, A new package 'CreditMetrics' is now available on CRAN. It is mainly a set of functions for computing the CreditMetrics risk model. This is the first version of the package and it is also my first try to build a package for R. The canonical reference is: Glasserman, Paul, Monte Carlo Methods in Financial Engineering, Springer 2004 Suggestions, bug reports and other

PDF fonts problem
Dear List, I am writing a paper in Hungarian, that I Sweave and than pdfLaTeX. Everything is fine, except for two accented letters in the graphs that behave strange, though on the screen and in eps exports they look perfect. The problem is that I need pdf graphs, since I would like to have a PDF after LaTeX-ing. For the example below I downloaded the following two font sets: 1. Latin Modern

Installing texlive dependencies
Hello ALL! I am running Fedora 16 x86_64. Due to some dubious problems, that i couldn't resolve, with the TeXLive (2007, which is a default), I removed it. That removed R as well, and some other dependent packages. Then, I installed TeXLive 2011 from CTAN. However, when I wanted to install R, from Fedora's repositories, it asks for some TeX dependencies (for example, tex-preview,

Sweave, cm-lgc and minus signs
Hello, since a couple of days I'm trying hard to elicit a certain thing out of the Sweave function of R. Unfortunately I'm quite unsuccessful. It's only about a small, ridiculous minus sign, which does not appear in the final pdf of a latex file, if I try to incorporate the Computer- Modern fonts into the plot. It seems, that R uses different encodings for minus signs, which are put

Can someone please have a look at this query on stackoverflow?
Dear Ashim, these are documented in the LaTeX 'geometry' package (see for example on CTAN: https://ctan.org/pkg/geometry). As I added in my response on Stackoverflow, several parts in the RMarkdown header actually concern information that are processed by LaTeX to actually generate the PDF, among which the 'geometry' line. For someone who is used to working with LaTeX, it is

Dear Olivier, Many thanks for your reply. Very cool. You know what I thought ? I thought you had modified the A4 sheet size to compute the paperheight and paperwidth ? I wonder if that's another way of proceeding.
