Building R-2.3.1 for Windows with ATLAS
Ok, moved to R-devel. I tried to build R-2.3.1. Since I intent to distribute this tuned R to all other who have a computer like mine here at work I thought it was best to stay with the latest stable release. About your suggestion, I could'n find xerblas.o file. And I don't know how to edit libf77blas.a. I tried to open it with VIM (http://vim.sf.net/) but there was a lot of strange

Build R with ATLAS
Hi, I followed this message, https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2004-February/028942.html, to compile ATLAS with gcc and g77 on AMD Opteron. I then followed the instructions on this message, https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2004-February/028966.html, to convert static libraries to dynamic libraries. However, when I tried to configure R-devel, I got the following error

R Installation Manual - ATLAS BLAS guidance that is not in the current version
Good afternoon. I am trying to compile a version of Rblas.dll based on ATLAS for the Corei7. I had remembered that there was mention of which file to adjust and that "xerbla" needed to be removed from one of the outputs from the last time I tried a few years ago. The most recent version of the R Installation manual does not say anything about this. An older version (2.10 I believe) has

ATLAS threaded 64 bit (Opteron) - need *.so?
Using ATLAS with R is an old topic quite covered in the "R Administration" manual (and by R's "configure" script collection). I still do not easily manage to build R properly on our new AMD Opteron (2-processor). I did work with the current Atlas 3.6.0, configured manually (but "express" version) to build a threaded ATLAS version, and successfully ran Atlas'

Stuck in R installation, help~~
Hi all, I'm stuck in the installation of R. When I run configure, I got the error: configure: error: --with-readline=yes (default) and headers/libs are not available I followed one answer in some post and use this: ./configure --with-prefix=/home/user/R-2.2.1 --with-readline=no It successfully configured but I encountered another problem while make: gcc -shared -L/usr/local/lib64 -o

Compiling R with ATLAS
Hello. I know almost nothing about Linux, so I apologize if the answer to this is obvious. I am trying to compile R with ATLAS (successfully compiled 3.9.24 on Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit). I configured with: ./configure --enable-R-shlib --enable-BLAS-shlib --with-blas="-L/usr/local/atlas/lib -lf77blas -latlas" --with-lapack="-L/usr/local/atlaslib -llapack -lcblas" --with-x and I

Compiling R-2.11.0 with ATLAS-tuned BLAS and LAPACK
Hello. I am a Linux neophyte and know almost nothing ?about compiling, so I would appreciate any help and advice y'all would care to offer. I am trying to compile the 64 bit version of R using a tuned ATLAS and LAPACK (ATLAS 3.9.24). I am running Ubunto 10.04 LTS (through wubi, FWIW). The ATLAS and LAPACK files (atlas.so, f77blas.so, lapack.so, and cblas.so) are sitting in the folder

ATLAS
I thought I would try compiling R this time with the ATLAS libraries. I have compiled ATLAS and I have the following libraries: libatlas.a libf77blas.a libptcblas.a libtstatlas.a libcblas.a liblapack.a libptf77blas.a Is it sufficient to use ' --with-blas=libatlas.a ' when configuring or do I need to specify any of the other libraries as well? -- William D. R crash with ATLAS precompiled Rblas.dll on Windows XP Core2 Duo
I noticed a problem using R 2.7.1 on Windows XP SP2 with the precompiled Atlas Rblas.dll. Running the code below causes R to crash. I started R using Rgui --vanilla and am using the precompiled Atlas Rblas.dll from cran.fhcrc.org dated 17-Jul-2007 05:04 for Core2 Duo. The code that causes the crash: x <- rnorm(100) y <- rnorm(100) z <- rnorm(100) loess(z ~ x * y) loess(z ~ x) does

ATLAS & R unser Windows
Hi, In rw-FAQ, there is a paragraph about optimizing R by using a fast ATLAS library in place of the standard BLAS. It says: "BLAS support is supplied by the single DLL `R_HOME\bin\Rblas.dll', and you can add a fast BLAS just by replacing that." Do I need to recompile the whole R with the option `USE_ATLAS = YES', or is it possible to compile only Rblas.dll on each separate

R problems with lapack with gfortran
Dear Thomas, thank you for your input. I've debugged one of the packages and I confirm that the breakage is related to passing of strings from C to Fortran. Indeed, BLAS and LAPACK define a large number of subroutines that take one or more explicit single-character strings as arguments. Other than that, BLAS has only one function (xerbla), which takes a string of unspecified length,

xerbla called from BLAS routine (PR#8100)
Full_Name: G?ran Brostr?m Version: R-2.1.1, 2.2.0 OS: Debian unstable Submission from: (NULL) (213.65.9.59) Some BLAS routines call xerbla for error messages, which results in a message like "LAPACK routine DGER gave error code -9". Suggested solution: In void F77_NAME(xerbla)(char *srname, int *info) { /* srname is not null-terminated. It should be 6 characters. */ char

R problems with lapack with gfortran
Hi, I have tried to pinpoint potential problems which could lead to the LAPACK issues that are currently seen in R. I built the current R trunk using AR=gcc-ar RANLIB=gcc-ranlib ./configure --prefix=$HOME --enable-lto --enable-BLAS-shlib=no --without-recommended-packages and used this to find problem areas. There are quite a few warnings that were flagged, due to mismatches in function

LAPACK lib problem, lme4, lastest R, Linux
I just dumped Vista off a laptop and installed Ubuntu 10.10 (latest release) as the single operating system. I did all of the updates and then installed emacs and ess. Next I installed R by following the the usual instructions on the CRAN site. At this point all is working I am now in the process of installing the packages that I normally have installed. I am having a problem with the LAPACK

LAPACK libraries improperly linked
I am not sure if this is an R development problem or not. I am starting with completely clean OS and and installing the latest version of R without trying to anything special but I am having trouble with the LAPACK library linking when I try to build packages that require them. I thought perhaps my problem may be if interest here. I just dumped Vista off a laptop formatted the disk and
