Imputing missing values
Dear all, Apologies for this beginner's question. I have a variable Price, which is associated with factors Season and Crop, each of which have several levels. The Price variable contains missing values (NA), which I want to substitute by the mean of the remaining (non-NA) Price values of the same Season-Crop combination of levels. Price Crop Season 10 Rice Summer 12

Barplot2 Title
Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to modify the name of groups of bar because on my barplot2, I have 5 groups of bars and one of them is called "User Contributes" and when I save the plot "User contributes" is to big so I don't have it on my plot! Is it pssible to put the name vertically! Thanks! Sabine --------------------------------- ils, photos

Graphically centering confidence interval in barplot
Hello, I have got a simple "cosmetic" question. I have created a bar plot with confidence intervals using: barplot(mean, ylim = c(0,0.2), las = 3, space = 0) arrows(1:17 ,X95p_low, 1:17, X95p_high, length = 0.07, angle = 90, code = 3, lty = 1) Unfortunately, the confidence bars align with the right side of the bars and I would like to shift these to the middle of the bars. warnings --- wish/bug (PR#1148)
When R prints warnings, they often go "out of the line", it would be better if they where wrapped with writeLines(strwrap ... I tried to do that , changing the function warnings, but it has only effect when called explicitely, not when R prints the warnings unasked. Anyhow, here is the changed warnings: warnings <- function (...) { if (!(n <- length(last.warning)))

Viewing Function Code
Hi All, I'd like to see the function code behind the barplots2() function in the gplots package, however i come across a bit of a stumbling block of a hidden function, can anyone help? > library(gplots) > methods(barplot2) [1] barplot2.default* Non-visible functions are asterisked > barplot2 function (height, ...) abline() plot order
I am performing this sequence barplot title legend abline When abline renders the lines they appare to be in the layer above the bars in the graph. Is there a way to make them render first or 'behind' the bars? Thanks.

barplot(2?) with CI from a zero reference line
Dear R Users, (and dear Marc) First of all many thanks for the answers to my previous questions. I would like to barplot the mean percent change of a variate with it's CI. Bars should start from the zero reference line to height (in barplot2). Is there a way to tweak barplot2, for example, to do that ? I have tried to see what the function was but unlike other functions was not able to

reshaping of data for barplot2
Dear All, I have the following data coming out from s <- with(final, summarize(norm, llist(gtt,fdiab), function(norm) { n <- sum(!is.na(norm)) s <- sum(norm, na.rm=T) binconf(s, n) }, type='matrix') ) ie gtt fdiab norm.norm norm.norm2 norm.norm3 18

ylim in barplot2 function?
Hi list, I'm using barplot2 form the gplots package to plot a few numbers (I want to add SD bars later). However, I would like the y-axis not to start from 0 but 500. When I add the parameters YLIM, something goes wrong. The graph is not 'cut off' at 500. Instead the bars seems to sink trough the bottom of the graph. Because its a little hard to explain, here is a self-containing

how to assign "writeLines" function
hi, what I want to do is assigning following code to any object. k<-paste("thank") writeLines(strwrap(k, width = 80,indent = 7,exdent = 6)) To assign the "writeLines" code, I try this a<-writeLines(strwrap(k, width = 80,indent = 7,exdent = 6)) or assign(a,writeLines(strwrap(k, width = 80,indent = 7,exdent = 6))) but it doesn't work. is there any way to solve

barplot2
Hello, I get a nice looking barplot using the barplot2 function in the gregmisc package: body2 <- barplot2(hh3, beside = TRUE, col = c("mistyrose", "lightcyan"), .... cex.names = 1.0, plot.ci = TRUE, ci.l = cil, ci.u = ciu, plot.grid = TRUE) box() However, obviously I lose the collors when converting from ps to a pdf (outside of R)

Text wrap
Hi everyone. I have a long label that I would like to split. I found that I could use "strwrap" for simple text. However, this is not working with this label: str = expression(paste("< 20 ?m phytoplankton ","(cells ? ",mL^-1,")")) plot(...., ylab = strwrap(str,20),...) I suspect this is because I'm using "expression" for form my label.

help combining mtext and strwrap?
Hi all, I've got some image plots on which I'd like to include some gene information (in the margins using mtext). Unfortunately, the description is rather long and will need to be wrapped to fit on several lines. From what I know about mtext, it's really only meant for single-line labels, not paragraphs. Here's some sample code of the idea I'm trying to accomplish:

Width of bars in barplot2
I'm using barplot2 to plot some data. Is there any way to determine the width of the bars in the generated plot? I know that barplot2 returns a list of the coordinates of the center of each bar, but since there is some white space between each bar, I don't know how to get the width of each bar. Jamie

abbreviate or wrap dimname labels
For a variety of displays (mosaicplots, barplots, ...) one often wants to either abbreviate or wrap long labels, particularly when these are made up of several words. In general, it would be nice to have a function, abbreviate.or.wrap <- function(x, maxlength=10, maxlines=2, split=" ") { } that would take a character vector or a list of vectors, x, and try to abbreviate or wrap

par code help
I am making a barplot using barplot2 from gplots where each bar represents a specific tree species. I have formatted the species names on the x-axis so that the genus name is above the species name and have then rotated the labels 45 degrees to save room. This is my code: >columncolor<-c("grey20", "grey20", "grey20", "grey70",

But does not work when using the save as postscript menu item from the plot window. is there any solution for that? opar <- par(mfrow = c(2,2), oma = c(0, 0, 1.1,

Suggested Patch: Adding commas to list of packages after R CMD check
Dear R-devs, Scenario: When checking a package via `R CMD check package_tar.ball`, required / suggested packages may be missing. R subsequently returns a list of packages that are missing (delimited by spaces). Example: ``` R CMD check glmSparseNet_0.99.13.tar.gz * using log directory '/home/ubuntu/Bioconductor/glmSparseNet.Rcheck' * using R Under development (unstable) (2018-06-06
