Convert "RDX" and "RDB" to ASCII format?
Dear R users and experts, I need to modify an exisiting R function from a package. The function/ variable is inside a namespace and I have problems accessing it. I only need to get access to to corresponding sourcecode. I localised the "RDX" and "RDB" files. But it seems to be a binary format. How can I convert it to an ASCII format to open and extract the code from a text

problem in for loop
Hi all. I was having some trouble with a for loop and I found the problem is the following. Does anyone have some idea why I got the following R result? Since mone is equal to 3, why mu1 only have 2 components? library(MASS) > p0 <- seq(0.1, 0.9,by=0.1) > m <- 10 > > > p0 <- p0[7] > > ## data generation > > mzero <- p0*m > mone <- m-mzero >

Fitting parabolic function to data
Dear R users and experts, I want to fit a shifted parabolic function with the following functional form to my data: f(x)=a0*(x+a1)^2+a2 (a0, a1 and a2 are scaling factors.) What is standard approach to do this in R? I tried the "lm" function in R but I got problems getting the above functional form. Any help is welcome :) . Greetings, Henri

cpgram: access data, confidence bands
Dear R experts, beginners and everyone else, I'm calculating "cumulative periodogram" using the command "cpgram" [1] from the MASS library. Here is a short example with the "lh" (hormone level) dataset: library(MASS) plot(lh,type="l",ylab="value",xlab="time", main="Hormone Levels (lh)") spectrum(lh,

Rf_error crashes entire program.
I'm having a problem with the error and warning functions. I've tried this on multiple machine so I'm fairly sure it's not machine dependent and I've tried it on the latest versions 2.6.0-2.7.1. Whenever my program gets to an error or warning it crashes the entire program rather than throwing the error like it should. Here are the relevant bits. ... char const * const

models and views
Greetings. I have an application which is used to track jobs and payments. The billables table contains columns "job_date", "amount" and "receipt" which indicate the date of the job, the amount due and whether or not payment has been received, respectively. In addition to tracking and manipulating individual jobs, the application is also used to generate aggregate

Group mapping, among other problems
Hopefully I can write this out so someone understands it. We are currently running a number of Solaris servers, to which windows computers need to connect. Currently they connect via NFS using hummingbird's NFS client. This requires them to have a separate unix account along with their windows account. Our idea is to implement samba 3.0.0 to eliminate that NFS client. My current

&500 and above ignored
Hello, I have a data crunching program which causes me a problem. Some of the data are identified with an & sign followed by a integer. No problem is experienced when analysing data below &500, but value above are ignored. Is there some limitation in R on this topic? Many thanks for your help. Best regards. how to rearrange a dataframe
Hi all, I'd appreciate if anyone can help me with this... I have a data frame that looks like this: 1 + name1 1 2 3 2 + name2 5 9 10 2 - name3 56 74 93 1 - name4 65 75 98 I need to rearrange this in a way so that the rows with "1" in the first column, and "-" in the second column; then columns 4 and 6 should switch places. That is, column 6 would be now column 4 and

parallel I/O on shared-memory multi-CPU machines
Dear ext3-users, I write scientific number-crunching codes which deal with large input and output files (Gb, tens of Gb, as much as hundreds of Gygabytes on occasions). Now there are these multi-core setups like Intel Core 2 Duo becoming available at a low cost. Disk I/O is one of the biggest bottlenecks. I would very much like to put to use the multiple processors to read or write in parallel

"Glare" condition - How well does asterisk handle?
Hi- I have an upcoming application that requires use of PRI channels that are primarily used for high-volume incoming traffic, but that are to be used for outbound calling as well. Of course, one option is to have dedicated outbound channels reserved, but this is an inefficient use of channel resources. Normally PBX's are designed to have the CPE yield to an incoming call if a particular

Bare Metal vs virtualization
Hello to all: I know this list is generally Linux-only, but I figured I'd try to gain wisdom from those with hard-core Windows needs, too. I was recently pricing out a high-end desktop system for a user who will doing a lot of CAD, Matlab, SolidWorks, and other apps that will utilize a lot of number crunching and video. The quote for the desktop (64-bit Vista is likely), which included 12

DC Upgrade Compiled to Package
Marc- Thanks for the advice. In regards to the FSMO roles, when we were originally testing, we found that in our version, FSMO roles could not be transferred (or even seized). Would you recommend adding the new versioned DC to the existing domain and attempting a seize on the new version once the old FSMO owner is offline? What about stopping samba on the old FSMO owner and copying the TDB

plotting group means
Hi all, I want to plot the grouped means of some variables. The dependent variables and the grouping factor are stored in different columns. I want to draw a simple line-plot of means, in which the x-axis represents the variables and y-axis represents the means. The means of the groups should be connected by lines. So far, the only function that I could find comes closest to what I'm

[LLVMdev] Question About Target Dependent Optimization
My name is Isaac. I'm a student at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, and I'm currently finishing my thesis on target-specific code optimization for my master's degree. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions I have about working with the LLVM codebase. My thesis involves optimizing the way that LLVM deals with memory operations when targeting the ARM processor
