Compare two dataframes
Hello, I have two dataframes DF1 and DF2 that should be identical but are not (DF1 has some rows that aren't in DF2, and vice versa). I would like to produce a new dataframe DF3 containing rows in DF1 that aren't in DF2 (and similarly DF4 would contain rows in DF2 that aren't in DF1). I have a solution for this problem (see self contained example below) but it's awkward and

Merging list of dataframes with reshape merge_all
Hi, I'd like to merge mutliple dataframes from a list of dataframes by some common columns. The approach for simply merging 2 dataframes is working with: merge(df1,df2,by=c("col1","col2","col3"),all=TRUE) For mutliple dataframes in a list I try to use the merge_all command from the package reshape. The documentation states that the command takes a list of

merging single column from different dataframe
Hi all, probably really simple to solve, but having no background in programming I haven't been able to figure this out: I have two dataframes like df1 <- data.frame(names1=c('aa','ab', 'ac', 'ad'), var1=c(1,5,7,12)) df2 <- data.frame(names2=c('aa', 'ab', 'ac', 'ad', 'ae'), var2=c(3,6,9,12,15)) Now I want merge

calculations with dates
Hi, I have a data.frame with factors in columns like startdate enddate 27SEP2005 01JAN2006 How can I calculate the duration between those two dates and move this in a extra column in the data.frame. Thanks, André [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

split & rbind (cast) dataframe
Hi, I would like to split dataframe based on one colum and want to connect the two dataframes by rows (like rbind). Here a small example: # The orgininal dataframe df1 <- data.frame(col1 = c("A","A","B","B"),col2 = c(1:4), col3 = c(1:4)) # The datafame how it could look like df2 <- data.frame(A.col2 = c(1,2), A.col3 = c(1,2), B.col2 = c(3,4), B.col3

merging or joining 2 dataframes: merge, rbind.fill, etc.?
#I want to "merge" or "join" 2 dataframes (df1 & df2) into a 3rd (mydf). I want the 3rd dataframe to contain 1 row for each row in df1 & df2, and all the columns in both df1 & df2. The solution should "work" even if the 2 dataframes are identical, and even if the 2 dataframes do not have the same column names. The rbind.fill function seems to work. For

Adding data.frames together
I have a series of data frames that are identical structurally, i.e. - made with the same code, but I need to add them together so that they become one, longer, data frame, i.e. - each of the slot vectors are increased in length by the length of the added data frame vectors. So if I have df1 with a slot A so that length(df1$A) = 100 and I have df2 with a slot A so that length(df2$A)=200 then I

Repeat elements of matrix based on vector counts
I have two dataframes (df) that share a column header ("plot.id"). In the 1st df, "plot.id" records are repeated a variable number of times based on the number of trees monitored within each plot. The 2nd df only has a single record for each "plot.id", and contains a variable named "load" that is collected at the plot-level and is only listed once per plot

Date conversion
Hi all, I am trying to convert all the dates (all days that are not Friday) in data frame into dates to next Friday. The following works but the result is returned as vector rather than the original class. It would be greatly apprecited if you could provide any solution to this problem. Many thanks in advance. # Define arbitrary initial date value ini <- as.Date("2010/1/1",

merging several dataframes from a list
Hi there, I have a list of dataframes (generated by reading multiple files) and all dataframes are comparable in dimension and column names. They also have a common column, which, I'd like to use for merging. To give a simple example of what I have: df1 <- data.frame(c(LETTERS[1:5]), c(2,6,3,1,9)) names(df1) <- c("pos", "data") df3 <- df2 <- df1 df2$data

splitting dataframe, assign to new dataframe, add new rows to new dataframe
Hi, all, My objective is to split a dataframe named "cmbine" according to the value of "classes". After the split, I will take the first instance from each class and bin them into a new dataframe, "df1". In the 2nd iteration, I will take the 2nd available instance and bin them into another new dataframe, "df2". >cmbine$names apple tiger pencil chicken

median value dataframe coming from multiple dataframes
Hi all, I am not a skillful R programmer and has I am handling with large dataframes (about 30000 x 300) I am in need of an efficient function. I have 4 dataframes with the same dimension. I need to generate other dataframe with the some dimension than the others where in each position it has the median value of the 4 values in the same position coming from the 4 dataframes. failed when merging two dataframes, why
Hi, R-listers, Failed, when I tried to merge df1 and df2 by "codetot" in df1 and "codetoto" in df2. I want to know the reason and how to merge them together. Order of columns(variables) in dataframe
Dear R experts,   I have a dataframe with 4 columns (variables). I want to redorder (or reposition) these columns on the basis of a value in its last row. e.g.   df1<-data.frame( v1= c(2,3,1,9,5), v2=c(8,5,12,4,11), v3=c(7,8,2,6,9), v4=c(1,4,6,3,6))    > df1    v1 v2 v3 v4 1  2  8  7  1 2  3  5  8  4 3  1 12  2  6 4  9  4  6  3 5  5 11  9  6 I wanto to get the order of df1 on the basis of

Utilizo la función merge desde hace poco, pero no se me ocurre cómo utilizarla para esto. Yo pienso que se puede hacer con una combinación de ifelse-s pero no sé cómo. Seguro que hay más de una forma ce hacerlo. Quoting José María Mateos <chema en rinzewind.org>: > On Sat, Nov 10, 2018 at 07:54:19PM +0100, Manuel Mendoza wrote: >> Muy buenas.
