Error installing Rails/FastCGI/Apache2
Trying to install rails/fcgi/apache2. Following these instructions: http://xmlareas.com/ruby-rails-howto.html Using Fedora Core 4. I installed ruby and ruby-devel using apt-get. Everything under Adding FastCGI (optional) works fine up to the gem install fcgi part. Here is what happens: [root@paulbarry fcgi-2.4.0]# gem install fcgi -r -- -with-fcgi-lib=/usr/local/fcgi/lib

Webgeb 0.5.x possible in Windows XP?
Hi Colin, I think fcgi is only required for testing. I do without it and directly open the output files in my browser. Maybe try saying no to ramaze or whatever depends on fcgi? compiling php with fcgi on tiger
I can''t figure out how to compile php with fcg enabled. I found a website which gives an example of how to write options in configure http://scoops.totallyrule.com/articles/2006/02/01/mysql5-ab-package-and-php5 So I wrote ./configure --prefix=/usr/local --program-suffix=5 --enable-fastcgi --enable-discard-path --enable-force-cgi-redirect --with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config

FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server dispatch.fcgi aborted
I just did a "gem update" on my server updating to the latest version. After this none of my scripts work. In apache error log I get: FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server "/home/user/public_html/dispatch.fcgi" aborted: (first read) idle timeout (30 sec) My only guess is that the problem is related to the fastCGI binding but I have no idea what to look for. RoR on Apache2
Hello, I''ve been going though the "4 Days on Rails" tutorial at http://rails.homelinux.org/ test-driving ruby on rails using the WEBrick server without problems. I''m trying to move the app to be seen by apache2, and am having some troubles. I''ve looked through many guides online which all say pretty much the same thing, which, I think, I am doing.

FCGI Static server definition
Per the Ruby on Rails book you need something like this for a static server definition: <IfModule mod_fastcgi.c> FastCGIIpcDir /tmp/fcgi_ipc FastCGIServer /path/to/app/public/dispatch.fcgi -iniital-env RAILS_ENV=production -processes 15 -idle-timeout 60 </IfModule> So my question is if I have more than 1 app running via apache are these settings applied to each app or do I put

Rails speed?
Hi -- (First time posting to the list...) I''m trying out Rails on my Mac (OS X Panther, 1.6 G5). It seems... kinda slow? I''ve even run it with FastCGI and the response time is still painfully slow. Is this just me? Is mod_ruby any better than FastCGI? Or is it rails? Thanks in advance! -- joshua

Ruby 1.8.2 breaks dispatch.fcgi
Hi, dispatch.fcgi does: require ''fcgi'' FCGI.each_cgi { |cgi| Dispatcher.dispatch(... Because each_cgi is only in fcgi.rb, this is dependant on finding fcgi.rb first. Rub 1.8.2 shows the following $LOAD_PATH /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-linux-gnu /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/i686-linux-gnu /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8 /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/i686-linux /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby

FCGI hanging w/ LightTPD in about 24-48 hours
I started an earlier thread about this ... Someone suggested a different version of LightTPD, since the version I was using had some known issues with FCGI. Well, we''ve upgraded to LightTPD 1.4.11 and the problem is still happening. We have Rails running under fcgi (one process) under LightTPD. This, in turn, is proxied to by Apache. This is on a test IP, so only a few people should
