ActionWebService and WSDL
The suggested approach for developing a web service using
ActionWebService appears to be start by defining the API you want and
then you can generate WSDL. I want to start from WSDL. I''ve tried
wsdl2ruby but the Ruby code it generates does not appear to play well
with Rails. Is there a way I can get what I want? I''m new at this so if
the answer is a forehead slapper,

PayPal WSDL API on Rails anyone ?
Hi !
Has anyone connected to the Mass Pay API of PayPal using Rails ? I
need to do this for a customer, and I wanted to know how easy/hard it
was. I have no experience using SOAP, WSDL, etc.
I saw soap4r[1] on the RAA[2]. This is probably what I''ll need to
use. One question I haven''t answered yet is whether soap4r will
accept PayPal''s certificates ?
Thanks for any

Newbie: Getting Book Data from Amazon
As part of my inaugural Ruby project, I''ve been trying to get data
for books from Amazon''s web services. The first thing I tried was
Ruby/Amazon <http://www.caliban.org/ruby/ruby-amazon.shtml>. It works
great, but is based on an earlier version of Amazon''s Web Services,
which apparently doesn''t return a complete set of data for the items

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with using soap4r. I''ve
done the whole wsdl2ruby and basically evrything works fine, were it not
that the servive I am talking to has a different standard concerning the
XML I am sending.

webservice consumption over SSL
Hi, as long as nobody answered to my previous question, i''ll try to
write in another way.
I have:
webservice WSDL link (https://something?WSDL, that''s .net webservice)
pem file (certificate, needed to authentificate for gettting data)
i need :
to consume that webservice without describing API''s for each method (i
mean use WSL to construct needed structures or objects).

Rails as SOAP client with .NET web service
Hi
For an application we need to obtain data from a .NET
based web service. I''ve been "playing" with some
sample code to invoke web services as a soap client.
They work ok with services that offer a .wsdl link.
However, .NET based services are called with
"*.asmx?WSDL".
The wsdlDriver (I guess SOAP4R) barfs on this.
Anybody have practical experience and willing/able

ActionWebService and namespaces
Hi all,
I''ve tried to search the mailing list, web, etc. and haven''t found
anything that seems to answer my question.
I have a WSDL for a web service written in Java, and I''m trying to
consume it in ruby using ActionWebService. I''ve created my API and some
struct classes. I''ve found the :namespace option to
ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new, but

Uploading files using a web service
i am writting a web service that will enable users to upload image
files...but then the problem is...i will have to use Soap4R, now my
question is....the API generated(or whatever you call it, wsdl file that
i get) will support standard SOAP implementation??...so i can use
Mono.NET to call this web service and upload files.
I ask this because as per my knowledge SOAP4R is different...so will

AWS Client - There has to be a better way
I''m working on building a SOAP client with AWS, i.e:
class PersonAPI < ActionWebService::API::Base
api_method :find_all, :returns => [[Person]]
end
soap_client = ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new(PersonAPI,
"http://...")
persons = soap_client.find_all
This works well but I think it breaks down quickly when you try to do
real world work. Lets take a moderately

bizare soap4r problem
Hey chaps
I am using classes I generated from wsdl2ruby, and they work like a
charm when running somthing like:
ruby -d path/to/file.rb
and i get the result I expect. However, when I use them within rails,
the actual xml it puts together is different. Using wire dump i see that
(and this is a key part of the web service) looks like:

How to stop SOAP4R/OpenSSL requiring cert?
Hi
I want to consume some web services that are only available over HTTPS.
My method looks like this:
def lookup_id
myid=params[:id]
driver =
SOAP::WSDLDriverFactory.new("https://server.com/xxx.wsdl").create_rpc_driver
@p=driver.verifyId(AUTH_TOKEN, PIN, myid)
end
Although this works fine on my local box (with a warning), when deployed
to the staging server I get:

User engine apparently breaks wsdl in some cases
(X-posting to the engine group as well)
Wsdl calls fail under certain circumstances when the user engine is in
use. After much experimentation, this is what I found.
* I have an application that uses the login and user engines for
permissions and security. The configuration works correctly.
* I created a web service for the application. If I use direct dispatch
(the default), I can both

Newbie: What is WSDL?
# Allow downloading Web Service WSDL as a file with an extension

That''s in the routes file, but what''s it for/mean?
Thanks!

AWS WSDL Client Consumption
Has anyone had any great success in consuming web services from within
ruby? I have had little to no problems publishing a WSDL based web
service to the outside world from within ruby, however now I am
attempting to consume the same ruby published web service with the AWS
client back into ruby, and I am having problem after problem.
Is there perhaps a help document or some manual that has a

REST wsdl & Wavemaker
I''m currently investigating creating a Rails application that will offer
a set of services for consumption by Wavemaker (used to be ActiveGrid)
which is a front-end builder.
Wavemaker is supposed to be able to consume SOAP and REST services, but
the service import dialoge insists on a wsdl file in either case. I''ve
just moved to Rails 2.0.2 to learn about REST and I see that

Generating WSDL when using delegated or layered distpatching
All,
I can''t seem to come up with the appropriate incantation to Rails return
WSDL for my web service. I am attempting to use layered dispatching. For
direct dispatching, I can simply access
http://localhoss:3000/controllername/service.wsdl and all works as
advertised. When I configure for layered dispatch, the same invocation
returns "unknown action".
