Help needed with ActiveRecord
I am having issues with RoR/database relationships
I have 3 tables
Feeds (List of feeds)
FeedItems (List of items, feedsID)
FeedView (list of views and their list of feedsID)
I would like to be able to generate a view with the feeditems
For example, if the view has 2 feeds --> CNN & MSNBC and they both have
15 feeds in the feeditems table I want to be able to generate a view

I use feedtools to generate the feeds and read them,and now they can not
work well:
This is the code for feed generating:

def userrss
@user = User.find_by_id(params[:id])
@articles = @user.articles(:all,:order => ''updated_at desc'')
@headers["Content-Type"] = "application/xml; charset=utf-8"

Following railstutorial.org tutorial, how to make the microposts be seen by all?
I am a new learner of Ruby on Rails.
I followed through the railstutorial.org tutorial and I''m trying to
learn off the sample demo app where you can to make microposts and only
the people who are "following" you can see them.
If I wanted to make it so every user can see microposts as an additional
functionality, what are the steps to do that?

simple-rss caching
The index page of my rails app grabs an rss feed from a neighboring news
site. Unfortunately, the process of grabbing that feed seems to be
slowing down the initial load time of my site to the point where it
takes about 10-12 seconds to respond and render.
I''d like to speed that up somehow (for 8-10 seconds it looks like my
server is not responding at all..) Any suggestions?

I''ve looked at every wiki and tutorial I can find on feedtools but I
still can''t get my rss feed working. Here''s my code.

feed.entries << FeedTools::FeedItem.new
feed.entries[0].author.name = "Charlie Bowman"

Asking for help again about my thread debug
As http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/65495 has shown,I have drawn into
trouble about my thread debugging for some days,and need help to solve
it urgently!
This thread problem comes from the design requirements that my web
application will get the rss feeds read which are generated by the web
application itself.
http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/63984 has shown my code,and the key code

I performed a gem install feedtools,
I then added these 2 lines to my environment.rb:
require ''rubygems''
require ''feed_tools''
I then added this method in my controller:

@post = Post.most_recent
feed = FeedTools::Feed.new
feed.title = ''Recent Rambles''
feed.subtitle = ''random thoughts by me''

How to convert time from rss feed to another format ?
Hi,
I need to parse the rss feed and use the pubDate field to generate a
field in a xml file to use as an input to simile timeline. RSS returns
the pubDate as :
Sun Feb 24 06:33:32 UTC 2008
But I need it as a string :
"Feb 24 2008 06:33:32 PST"
When I do :
...
@dt=feed_item.time
@dt=@dt.to_date
word_date=''%b %d %Y %H:%M:%S %z''
puts @dt.strftime(word_date)

multcomp on significant interaction in coxme model
Dear R community
I currently try to get post hoc multiple comparisons with the package
multcomp from a cox mixed-effects model, where the survival is explained
by two variables (cover with levels: nocover and cover; treatment with
levels: tx, uv, meta), whose interaction is significant.
I read Hothorn, T. 2011: Additional multcomp Examples and there is an
example involving a two-way ANOVA with

Ruby/rails port of Cocoon/hibernate
Hi,
I''m currently running an apache/jboss cocoon/flow/hibernate/ajax
paypal (directpayment) project and am looking into the possibility of
porting it across to ruby/rails. For that reason I would like to know
the following:
1. Can I call my java classes or would I be looking at a complete
rewrite in ruby?
2. How effective is ruby in terms of seperation of concerns regarding
design from

Rails vs. Cocoon
Hello all,
I''m hoping that someone out there in Rails-land has developed in both Cocoon
and Rails and would like to share their experiences using both application
frameworks.
I''m going to be doing a presentation in the next couple of days on the
advantages that Rails affords. The higher-ups are going to use this info on
deciding whether or not to move away from Cocoon and

Sortable as a class?
Hi there!
My first post to this list, so first of all many thanks for the amazing
Scriptaculous library. I''m currently using it for some nice Ajax effects
in Apache Cocoon (http://cocoon.apache.org/).
I''m currently struggling with Sortable, which I would like to adapt as
the conventions used in Cocoon are different from those currently used.
Basically, I would like to send

Select fields, Coffeescript and Cocoon
Hello,
I have select field which after a choice happened, feeds another select
field.
Using the gem Cocoon to duplicate this set of select fields.
My problem now is to find a solution that the coffee script supplies values
for each select field-set separately.
My code:

Matching multiple nodes with a regular expression
Hello,
I''m setting up puppet on various clusters (tomcat, mysql, tomcat
+cocoon, etc) of computers, each of which has a hostname consisting of
the cluster type and a unique id (e.g. tc-dev-1, mysql-stg-3, etc).
I''ve been merrily adding each node by hand to puppet but being
naturally lazy I wondered if this could be done with a regular
expression instead, something along the

Form objects vs nested attributes in 1 to many association
Recently I have been reading about form objects and have been wondering its
use in 1 to many assocation.
Let''s say I have a model of project with many tasks and the user edits the
project along with the tasks in one big form.
Is nested attributes using cocoon gem better suited than using
reform/virtus or other form objects? Any examples of using form objects in
this context?
