rpart confidence intervals?
hi, I am using rpart with a continuous response variable. Is there a way to extract 95% confidence intervals for the predicted mean at each node? cheers. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/rpart-confidence-intervals--tp18601587p18601587.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

But i get the error shown below.... > xmapDatabase("Human") Error in mysqlNewConnection(dbDriver(drv), ...) : RS-DBI driver: (could not connect cagadmin at mysql2.cag.chop.edu on

variable as part of file name
Dear all, sorry for this very basic question, but I did not find any good example yet. I would like to set up a variable that can be recall later to substitute a part of a file name. As example: var_filename = as.name("aaa") jpeg("var_filename.jpg") plot() dev.off() It would be very useful in order to avoid to change manually many strings. I guess it is possible, but I did

Subsetting an array by a vector of dimensions
Hi Is it possible to subset an n-dimensional array by a vector of n dimensions? E.g. assume I have > x <- array(1:24, dim=2:4) > x[1,1,2] [1] 7 > dims <- c(1,1,2) I would like a function that I can supply x and dims as parameters to, and have it return 7. Also, I would like to do something like: > x[1,1,] [1] 1 7 13 19 > dims2<- c(1,1,NA) And have a function of x and

Z aware interpolation
Hello again, There is any package which does Z aware (real 3D) interpolations? It can be any method (IDW, kriging or spline) but it should take into consideration not only x and y coordinates for interpolation, but also z coordinate. I looked into different packages but it seems i didn't find the right one. The ultimate goal is to import the output into a GIS (Geographical Information

installation
hi all, is there a cd-rom image with a full R pre-installation which I can give to my students so that if they want to run R on their computer, they will be able to run it from the cd-rom without having to install it on their computer. That way, they can have a 'protable' R package installation in their bags, and they can use it on any machine. Is this possible? Dr. Iasonas Lamprianou

R-help: beginner question
Hi, I am a beginner user of R. I have a trivial question ? I am almost ashamed I cannot figure it out does not matter how many times I am reading the help. I have a table in .txt format, tab delimited. I can read it with ?read.delim()? with no problems. Afterwards I would like to use boxplot function to see if there are any outliers in the column 5 of my data called TPAH16.ppm In the

ordinal variables
Dear colleagues, I teach statistics using SPSS. I want to use R instead. I hit on one problem and I need some quick advice. When I want to work with ordinal variables, in SPSS I can compute the median or create a barchart or compute a spearman correlation with no problems. In R, if I "read" the ordinal variable as numeric, then I cannot do a barplot because I miss the category names. If

patch: automatically adjust width option when terminal is resized
Hi, I guess there have been discussions about this in the past and from what I understood hooking an R-function to facilitate automatic adjustment is problematic. So why not doing it like this: --- R-3.4.1/src/unix/sys-std.c 2017-03-24 00:03:59.000000000 +0100 +++ R-3.4.1/src/unix/sys-std.patched.c 2017-08-28 09:16:02.714204023 +0200 @@ -1005,6 +1005,9 @@ // introduced in

ordinal regression
Dear colleagues, i am carrying out an ordinal regression model. I try it on SPSS but I "flirt" with R as well. I have a few questions. 1. What is the most reliable/tested/trusted package for ordinal regression in the R world? 2. Also, I have a statistical question. What is the danger of having to many 'empty cells' in ordinal regression? How many empty cells are too many? Do

Standardized logistic regression coefficients
Dear all, I am looking for ways to compute standardized logistic regression coefficients. I found papers describing at least 6 different ways to standardize logistic regression coefficients. I also found a very old (Thu May 12 21:50:36 CEST 2005) suggestion by Frank E Harrell (one of the colleagues who frequently contribute on this list) saying... Design doesn't implement those because they

missing values
Dear all, i have spent a lot of time trying to solve this problem, but I am sure that there must be a simple solution. So, as a last resort, I am coming back to you again. I have a dataset with some (almost random) values in many variables. Lets say that the dataset represents the scores of students to test questions. What I need to do is to sum the scores for each student. However, wherever
