attach() warning message
Hi, I am using R 2.3.0 and my .First() file has the following line which causes a warning: attach(what="c:/r/jmb/.RData", pos=3) I get the following message after .First() is loaded: During startup - Warning message: use of NULL environment is deprecated Is there a simple fix that will eliminate this warning message? Thanks. J. Breiwick

Rcmd check problem
Hi, all. I was trying to build my R package with R 2.15.1 32bit and win7. I basically follow the routine in Steven Mosher's blog http://stevemosher.wordpress.com/step-10-build/ After I fixed the path, and built the skeleton of the package, I started command prompt and used the following commands in building my package Rcmd check myPackageName Rcmd build myPackageName Rcmd check

Package creation - require statement?
All, I have used package.skeleton, edited the .Rd files and the DESCRIPTON file. In one of my package functions I am using RODBC so I have a line of code that reads: require(RODBC). In my DESCRIPTION file I have the following relevant line: Depends: R (>= 2.9.0), RODBC However, when I do a check (Rcmd check my_package_name) I get this warning: * checking for unstated dependencies in R code

Creating Packages with Windows under R 2.0.0
Hello, I have a workspace that contains a number of functions I want to put in a library. Under R 1.9.0 I did this fairly easily by putting them in a R folder, creating a DESCRIPTION & TITLE file etc. I could then load my library successfully. Under R 2.0.0 this simple process apparently no longer works. I have used package.skeleton() and have run R CMD INSTALL pkgname but still get various

llvm-link: Missing Dwarf DIE references
I am experiencing an issue combining bitcode files for the purpose of generating the combined bitcodes as a single bitcode file. I would like to have any pointers to help me debug this or maybe it has been seen before and a fix is either being worked on or is done. I am using the Xcode 9.0 compiler. I believe the Swift code is 3.x. I have reproduced this using the tot llvm-link. The input

shQuote and cat
Dear R-users, It is my understanding that cat(shQuote(a.string)) should print the origintal a.string. Is this right? I am not sure cat() correctly prints strings which are generated by triple-shQuote(): > shQuote(shQuote("a")) [1] "\"\\\"a\\\"\"" > cat(shQuote(shQuote(shQuote("a"))), '\n')

Evaluate values in `Sys.setenv`
Hi all, I would like to know if there is any way to evaluate the values in `Sys.setenv` before setting the environment variables. For example, if we want to add a path to the environment variable `PATH`, we can do this in a terminal ``` > export PATH=~/mypath:$PATH > echo $PATH /Users/jeff/mypath:... ``` However, this style of assignment is not allowed in `Sys.setenv`, it treats its

how to create help files
Dear R users, this is a question for R version 1.2.0 under Windows NT 4.0, regarding the documentation of ones own functions. I have ceated a private library for my functions, which works all very well, apart from that I am not able to create appropriate help files. For illustration, here is a simple example of where I'm stuck: > # first, create a simple function f1: > f1 <-

2.2.5, recycle: %U is ok, %u is not
Linux Red Hat 6.x Using name = <mypath>/%U in recycle.conf is ok, while using name = <mypath>/%u produces a dir <mypath>/%u/deleted.item I need to use %u since %U is before smbusers mapping. Do you get the same behavior? Thanks -- giulioo@pobox.com

Problem creating reference manuals from latex
R Community, I often am in need of viewing the reference manuals of packages and do not have Internet access. I have used the code: path <- find.package('tm') system(paste(shQuote(file.path(R.home("bin"), "R")),"CMD", "Rd2pdf",shQuote(path))) someone kindly provided from this help list to generate the manuals from the latex files. Comparing formulas
Dear All, I want to compare formulas resulting from using stepAIC() on glm() objects. I have 2 different formulas, say F1 and F2, which consist of about 10 factors (Y~A+B+C+...) but one has an interaction term (A:B) while the other doesn't. But when I perform F1==F2 it comes back as TRUE. Is there a proper way to compare formulas? ------------------------------------------- Jeffrey M

multiple boxplots
Hello, I want to plot 3 boxplots [ par(mfrow=c(3,1)) ] but the first one has 8 groups, the 2nd has 7 and the third has 6. But I the groups to line up: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 3 4 5 6 7 8 where the numbers actually refer to years. I suspect I have to manipulate the function bxp(). Is there a relatively simple way to do this? Thanks for any help. Jeff Breiwick NMFS, Seattle

system2 doesn't quote stdin on unix, unlike stdout, stderr & input and on Windows
Hi again! While investigating the bug report [*] I found out that on unix, system2 does not quote its `stdin` argument while preparing the command line to launch. It does shQuote the `stdout` and `stderr` arguments, and also the `f <- tmpfile()` variable (which is used if `input` argument is provided), which seems to set a precedent. On Windows, stdin, stdout, and stderr are handled

using dvi with latex object: directory not correctly set, maybe due to error in shQuote()
Dear friends of R, I want to produce a pdf file with the contents of a matrix. I employ the latex command in combination with dvi, both contained in the Hmisc package. It seems to me that the function does not correctly set the directory. > tbl.loc <- matrix(1:4, nc=2) > latex.obj <- latex(tbl.loc) > dvi(latex.obj) warning: extra args ignored after 'cd' H:\PROJECTS\data
