Wine success: HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
I had need of a bit of computer archeology (oddly enough, for a couple
of archaeologists, but that's another story). I used Henry Bartlett'
HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
(http://www.hotkey.net.au/~hambar/habit/wsconvrm.htm) to convert some
Wordstar for Mess-DOS files to text and HTML. It worked just fine
under wine (http://www.winehq.org). wine-20041201-1fc3winehq on Fedora

Do machine accounts have to be group 100
I have got samba 2.2.3 running, acting as a PDC for my domain of Win2k
workstations.
The adduser script is working and I can join machines to the domain 'on the
fly'
My question is; what are the implications of changing the group id of the
workstation machine accounts to a value other than 100?
Thanks

asypow.noncent: how does it work?
I am trying to do power calculations for the proportional odds model using the asypow library.
The code
noncenta90b10<-asypow.noncent(theta.ha=a9010,info.mat=infomatrixa90b10,constraints=constrt)
returns

Can I run windows console (command line) applications using WINE
Hi,
I understand Windows UI applications can run in Linux using wine.
1. Can I run console/command line applications also?
2. If yes, a how can a shell script running on Linux invoke the
console/command line application. (A sample would be great)
Thanks,
Susheel

Wine on Fedora Core 4: Street Atlas 8 & wineconsole issues
I just did a fresh installation of Fedora Core 4, using my home
directories from FC3, including my .wine.
In the FC3 environment, I had used winetools to install. I did not
want to do a fresh installation of wine, just use an RPM that would
work. Alas, I had to fall back to 20041201.
SA 8:
I installed and uninstalled wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm,

Delorme Street Atlas 8 and ISO images
Being lazy, I'd just as soon not be swapping CDs in and out of the CD
drive to use Street Atlas 8. So I slurped the SA 8 data CD into an ISO
image, which I then mount as a loopback device. I created a symlink in
~/.wine/dosdevices, s: (and it took me a while to get the syntax for
that right :-). winefile and fn.exe
(http://www.charlescurley.com/fn.html) have no problems with the iso
image.

Street Atlas 8.0 Extractor
I mentioned earlier that I had DeLorme Street Atlas 8.0 working on
wine. It comes with a separate program, the extractor. This will pull
parts of the map CD and store them locally so that the main program
does not have to refer to the CD for those parts of the map.
I had one problem which I overcame: it was looking for h:\refnc. I
have no idea why it was looking on h:, as the CD-ROM is on d: and

__Very__ Low Bandwidth
I am using the script below to simulate a very low bandwidth connection.
I found that I could turn the bandwidth knob down to about 4kbit, but
below that I didn''t get any traffic through. I''ve had a look at this
generally, but couldn''t find an answer. It doesn''t even seem like the
first reply packet gets through. I have tried it with much bigger
buffers,

How do I remove printer drivers from print$
I have done a foolish thing and I would like help undoing it!
I have managed to add drivers for all of the printers on my Samba server,
using the "Add printer driver wizard."
They are in print$ (/usr/local/samba/printers/W32X86)
The ones for my Win95 and 98 clients are in /usr/local/samba/printers/WIN40
but they are Wrong!
I cannot use the "Server Properties" tab in the
