Reshaping a dataframe with conditional summary of columns - apply or reshape?
I need to do a somewhat complex rearrangement of an existing dataframe that involves an "on-the-fly" conditional summary as well. I've tried to make the example as simple as possible. Entropy/KL-Distance question
Dear R-Users, I have the CDF of a discrete probability distribution. I now observe a change in this CDF at one point. I would like to find a new CDF such that it has the shortest Kullback-Leibler Distance to the original CDF and respects my new observation. Own classes in "histogram"
Hi, I try to make a histogram from a variable that contains the number of shoots from about 1000 individuals from a specific plant species (the range is 1-110). Those numbers are highly skewed to the right. My question is: how can I make my own classes with the lattice "histogram"? I am working on a Windows XP machine with R 2.10.1 and a recent installation of MiKTeX 2.8. I use LyX (www.lyx.org) to write documents and have it set up to run Sweave, Stangle, and make the PDF through R using a batch script and a MakeSweave.R file. non-linear model parameterization
Dear all, I would like to fit a non-linear model of the form: y=g*x/(a+b*x) with nls(). However this model is somehow overparameterized and I get the error message about singular gradient matrix at initial parameter estimates. constructing a self-starting non-linear model

continue for loop in case of erros
Dear all, I have a for loop which includes nls model estimation. The loop breaks after the first non-convergence error. How can I make the loop continue and try to estimate all models? Samba3 server tries to sync WINS with itself and fails
