Title of page with multiple plots
I want to place four plots on a page, and I would like to have all four plots share a common title. CSV file and date. Dates are read as factors!
I am using read.csv to read a CSV file (produced by saving an Excel file as a CSV file). The columns containing dates are being read as factors. Because of this, I can not compute follow-up time, i.e. Followup<-postDate-preDate. Recalling and printing multiple graphs. Is there something in the HISTORY menu that will help?
I have written an R function that produces multiple graphs. I use par(ask=TRUE) to allow for the inspection of each graph before the next graph is drawn. I am looking for a way to recall all graphs drawn in an R session, and a method that can be used to print all the graphs at one time. I know that I could simply print each graph after I inspect the graph, but this gets tiresome if one's

Binary outcome with non-absorbing outcome state
I am trying to model data in which subjects are followed through time to determine if they fall, or do not fall. Some of the subjects fall once, some fall several times. Follow-up time varies from subject to subject. I know how to model time to the first fall (e.g. Cox Proportional Hazards, Kaplan-Meir analyses, etc.) but I am not sure how I can model the data if I include the data for those

Dividing a vector into ntiles
R 2.1.1 Win 2k Would someone suggest a method (or methods) that can be used to determine ntile cutpoints of a vector, i.e. to determine values that can be used to divide a vector into thirds such as 0-33 centile, 34-66 centile, 67-100 centile. solution to a regression with multiple independent variable
Please forgive a statistics question. I know that a simple bivariate linear regression, y=f(x) or in R parlance lm(y~x) can be solved using the variance-covariance matrix: beta(x)=covariance(x,y)/variance(x). I also know that a linear regression with multiple independent variables, for example y=f(x,z) can also be solved using the variance-covariance matrix, but I don't know how to do this.

confusion with boot
I think I am doing something wrong when I try to bootstrap R square obtained from lm. My code is included below. No matter how many times I run the simulation, I always get exactly the same result, the bias and std.error are always zero. I would think that these values should be non-zero. Multivariable correlation
Given a square matrix of variables X, is there any way to compute a multivariable correlation among all the variables in the array? It is possible to calculate the correlation of all pairs of variables in the array, but I want to know the correlation of all the variables taken together, i.e. for the matrix X=x1 x2 x3 x4 x5 x6 x7 x8 x9 I don't want the pair-wise correlations

EMACS and ESS
Fedora Linux 8 R 2.6.1 Intel CPU I am trying to get started with R under Linux. It has been suggested to me that I run R under EMACS.
