User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
For anybody interested in tracking when this is resolved for mainline samba4 there is now a bugzilla record here: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10980 On 2 December 2014 at 11:52, Kirin van der Veer < kirin.vanderveer at planetinnovation.com.au> wrote: > Is there a corresponding bug number for the Samba bugzilla so that I can > track when this is fixed for vanilla samba?

Effect.Appear/Hide and numbered lists
Hi, I''m building a wizard with several steps per page and i''ve organised them per page in a numbered lists. So an average page looks like 1. Do something xxxxxxxxxxx 2. Do something else xxxxxxxxxxx etc and the code is <ol> <li>Do something<br />xxxxxxxxxx</li> <li>Do something else<br />xxxxxxxxxx</li> </ol> On one

OT: Pie charts
We regularly get questions about making pie charts, and frequently veer off into the philosophical and practical issues surrounding that form of data graphic: human perception of angles and so on. So while this isn't an R issue, I thought some of you might appreciate this brief discussion of the efficacy of pie charts: http://fakescience.tumblr.com/post/6042293374/understanding-pie-charts

Changing some values within a variable
Hi I'm new to R and would like some help with a couple of problems. I suspect the solutions are quite simple. I have a data.frame (data) with 40 variables and 5238 observations created from ~150 text files using read.table. I would like to change some of the entries within two different columns. Firstly, in the Group column I have groups A and B, I would like to select all As and change

Theora Intra (ptalarbvorm) vs. MJPEG
(I am sending this same message to theora-dev because I think it applies to development discussion as well as user discussion.) In the discussion of having a freedom-friendly camcorder or other video device, we discussed the idea of using intra-only Theora video to make post-recording editing a much easier process, allowing things like frame-by-frame editing without the need to decode and

Transfer R workspace on another PC
Hi list! I have recently tried to take my office work home, meaning that I tried to transfer my "... .RData" workspace from my PC on my laptop. The office PC runs on Windows XP and my laptop runs on Windows Vista. I have saved the workspace at the office PC and kept it in a usb drive. When I tried to open it on my laptop I got an error: "Fatal Error: Unable to restore saved data in

Theora Intra (ptalarbvorm) vs. MJPEG
In the discussion of having a freedom-friendly camcorder or other video device, we discussed the idea of using intra-only Theora video to make post-recording editing a much easier process, allowing things like frame-by-frame editing without the need to decode and reencode the video again, thus incurring loss. I was quite skeptical of the efficiency of intra-only Theora, and I had speculated that

Kaplan Meier function
Hi all, I am trying to draw a Kaplan-Meier curve and I found online that Kaplan - Meier estimates are computed with a function called km in the event package. Is there an update for that because when I choose to download packages in R,. there is no package called event, even though I have selected all the repositories. Thanks in advance, Eleni [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

t.test & p-Value
Hello list, I am trying to apply the paired t.test between diseased and not diseased patients to identify genes that are more expressed in the one situation under the other. In order to retrieve the genes that are more expressed in the positive disease state I do: p.values<-c() for(i in 1:length(Significant[,1])){ p.values[i]<-try(t.test(positive[i,],negative[i,],alternative

Multiple lattice plots on a page: aligning x-axes vertically
Dear R-help, I am creating a two lattice plots (a densityplot() and xyplot()) that have the same x-axes and then 'printing' them onto the same page, one above the other (see end of email for an example to generate the graph). With different labels on the y-axis for each plot the left spacing is different, and the x-axes don't align vertically. Although I can manually modify the

select affy probes of cancer-related genes
Hi! I would like to select probes (affy expression set) of genes that are "cancer-related". Conventionally the decision whether a gene is cancer-related or not is made by looking up the literature. Since this is not possible for all genes on the array I wonder if there is a way of doing this automatically? Best wishes Kristian -- _____ Dr Kristian Unger Imperial College London

Text mining? Text manipulation? Both? Predicting KRAS test results in cancer patients
Happy Friday Everyone, ? Hope Friday afternoon doesn't turn out to be a terrible time to post a question. I've been doing a little data mining of patient text medical records as of late. I started out trying to predict whether or not cancer patients had received KRAS mutation testing and did quite well with that. Now I'm trying to predict the results of KRAS testing (mutated?vs. wild

OT: Is randomization for targeted cancer therapies ethical?
Hi Folks: **Off Topic** Those interested in clinical trials may find the following of interest: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/19/health/research/19trial.html It concerns the ethicality of randomizing those with life-threatening disease to relatively ineffective SOC when new "biologically targeted" therapies "appear" to be more effective. While the context may be new, the
