Testing Normal Distributions
Hi,
I would like to know if there is an algorithm in R for testing if a data set as a normal destribution.
Thank you for your time,

Problems working with large matrix (using package R.huge)
Hi all,
Since I was having several problems trying to work with a large matrix I started to use the package R.huge but I'm having the following problem
> x<-FileByteMatrix("covtype.data",nrow=581012,ncol=55)
Error: cannot allocate vector of size 770.8 Mb

Testing normality
Hi,
I'm doing kolmogorv-smirnov test but I don't know what conclusions to take, I want to know if my data has a normal distribution:

data: dados1
D = 0.972, p-value < 2.2e-16
alternative hypothesis: two-sided

SVM error
Hi all,
I'm having this error, since I'm working with a data matrix I don't understand what's happening; I've tried several ways to solve this, even working with sparse matrix, but nothing seems to solve it, I've also tried svm (with a simple matrix 3*3 and still got the same error.

Binary data sets
Hi,
I would like to know if there is any algorithm in R for transforming Binary data sets. I want something like taking all the zeros and giving them some negative value, for example -5, and taking all ones and giving them some positive value, if it had been given -5 for zeros it would be 5 for all ones.
Thank you for your time,

Lda and Qda
Hi all,
I'm working with some data: 54 variables and a column of classes, each observation as one of a possible seven different classes:

energy 1.0.1
R Users,
We would like to announce that Version 1.0.1 of the energy package is
now available on CRAN.
The energy package introduces a new class of statistical tests based
on the concept of Newton's potential energy. Included in the package are
* mvnorm.etest (test) and mvnorm.e (statistic)
A rotation invariant multivariate goodness-of-fit test,
implemented for testing

Using boxplot in a daily time series
Hi all,
I'm trying to plot my daily time series, with 3650 observations( 10 years), with boxplot but I want 12 boxes, one for each month, can anyone help me doing that.
Best regards

an rpy2, R cgi type question
Hi again.
I'm putting together a little project with R, python, and a website. So I
have an HTML file, a py file, an R file.
Here is the HTML file:

is there any function under R that allows me to test the normality of my 92
sumples?

Normalidad para datos multivariados
Hola!
Gracias!

multivariate normality test
Hello,
Could someone help me to explain the VERY big difference in applying two
tests on multivariate normality:
library(mvnormtest)
data(EuStockMarkets)
mshapiro.test(t(EuStockMarkets[15:29,1:4]))
Shapiro-Wilk normality test
data: Z
W = 0.8161, p-value = 0.005955
and
library(energy)
mvnorm.etest( EuStockMarkets[15:29,1:4] )

trouble with Vista & reading files
All,
I am having trouble with a "read.table()" function that is inside of
another function. But if I call the function by itself, it works fine.
Moreover, if I run the script on a Mac OS X (with the default Mac OS X
version of R installed, rev 2.8), it works fine. But it does not work if I
run it on windows vista (also default Windows version of R, rev. 2.8).
Again, both

Missing functions in package e1071(Win*)
Hi!
After unziping the CRAN file e1071.zip
on my Win95 library directory, I start R and
type
>library(e1071)
After that, help commands of the e1071
functions work (i.e., help(read.pnm), BUT
some functions themselves are not available:
> read.pnm
Error: Object "read.pnm" not found
I've looked at the file library/R/e1071 with
an ascii editor and it seems like the functions

Spatial sampling problem
Hi All,
I am new in R and trying to simulate random normal 2D field with mean trend say north-south. My domain is 10x10 grid and I am trying to use mvnorm but do not know how to specify the domain and the mean field.
I would appreciate any help.
Cheers, SK

Test Normality
Good Night
I made different test to check normality and multinormality in my dataset,
but I don´t know which test is better.
To verify univariate normality I checked: shapiro.test, cvm.test, ad.test,
lillie.test, sf.test or jaque.bera.test and
To verify multivariate normal distribution I use mardia, mvShapiro.Test,
mvsf, mshapiro.test, mvnorm.e.
I have a dataset with almost 1000 data and 9

Can anyone clear my doubts about what conclusions to take with the following what puts of some time series tests:

E-Business 11i.9 and RAC 9.2.0.3
Hi,
I am currently involved in a project with E-Business 11i.9.
For the production enviroment, ct. wants to implement Load Balance and
Fail Over - both middle tier and database tier, the last with RAC.
As E11i creates lots of tablespaces, the best way seems to be OCFS.
We installed & configured OCFS partitions.
The next step was to install E11i multi tier, single instance - already

Bls: RE: example
Dear Sir,
Yes, I want to generate the data by two Gaussian but mean from one of them generatated from polar its coordinates. I am confused about the algorithm? I know how to generate two Gaussian data with certain mean&covariance matrix using mvnorm but what about mean from its polar coordinates?
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
