Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Thanks Jeff, I attached a file with the program to my earlier email because the posting guide seemed to imply that non-binary attachments would work. But I see that the file was stripped off. I installed the program file on a web site, but when I downloaded it, the line breaks were stripped out. So I've included the program below: ------------------------------------------------------- #

Ticks on barplots
Dear Gurus, Using R 2.4.1 on Windows XP I am generating stacked barplots of age-composition of fish populations (Y) over time (X). As there are many years, not every bars is labeled. When looking at the plot, it becomes difficult to associate labels with their bars. We have improved this a bit by using axis() to add a tickmark below each bar. Can anyone suggest a way to draw ticks ONLY

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Per the Posting Guide, why didn't you post the reproducible R code example? Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
I'm drawing a paneled histogram using the lattice package. I've succeeded in adding minor tick marks to the vertical axis, but I can't get the desired number of minor tick marks between the major tick marks. I've attached a self-contained program to illustrate the problem. Thanks for your help, Don Macnaughton Here's my sessionInfo: R version 3.4.3 (2017-11-30) Platform:

Can someone please explain why the last tick mark on this chart is not showing?
Hi all, I'm trying to log chart but with natural looking tick marks. My specifications are very specific -- it must indicate the lowest number's tick as well as the maximum. I've attached sample code and data for a particular case (and there are a few more like this) where the bottom tickmarks on the chart are not set to where I want them to be and yet they fit in the ylim range.

Plot ticks and tick labels: thickness, colour?
I am displaying several series in one plot, and would like to make them distinct without having to employ a legend. I managed to color tickmarks, but have been unsuccessful with either one of a) making tickmarks thicker (without increasing the axis at the same time). From reading ?axis: lty, lwd: line type, width for the axis line and the tick marks. in would appear that I cannot

fine grain tick marks for zoo plots
Dear R Users, I am trying to get plot.zoo to place monthy tickmarks/labels for a time series which spans daily data going back a bit over a year. Right now, I am getting only one tick mark on the x-axis for the beginning of 2008. How can I force plot.zoo to place more regular x-axis tick marks on a monthly basis ? Thanks in advance, Tolga Generally, this communication is for informational

axis in r plot
I have a graph plotted in r.The x axis tickmarks are at 0,5,10. I need a graph with resolution of tickmarks at 0.1 interval. When i place tickmarks of 0.1 intervals using the following command axis(1, at=seq(0,5,0.1), cex.axis=0.7, las=2) I only get the tickmarks of 0.1 interval that are very closed placed in the graph.I need to increase the spacing between each tickmark. Please anyone help out

Labelling and formatting of graphics
In the output of the code below, I want to do the following: - get hats over some of the betas - get the polygons stippled, not coloured grey - remove the tick marks at the ends of the axes. If I put tick = false, the whole axis disappears. betahat <- c(0.04*0:150) betahatdens <- dnorm(betahat, 3, 1) plot(betahat, betahatdens, xlim = c(-0.2, 6.2),

rotated labels in barplot with beside=T and multiple groups
I have a data set that I display using barplot. I don't know what you call it, but when I look at it, it looks like this: > lsu (0,0.1] (0.1,0.2] (0.2,0.3] (0.3,0.4] (0.4,0.5] (0.5,0.6] A 0.052631579 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 B 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.001007049 0.003021148 0.000000000 0.000000000 E 0.200000000 0.000000000

Changing Tick Marks for Date Plots
I have been experimenting with various approaches to plotting (irregular) time-series with reasonable success. One thing I have been able to do is change the number of tick marks on the axis. Consider the following simple example: > x <- as.data.frame(matrix(ncol=2,nrow=500)) > names(x) <- c("dates","values") > x$dates <- as.POSIXct(Sys.time()+1:500*86400)

R-beta: PostScript tick marks in 62.1
R-users/developers, I am loosing tick marks that I add to a plot with axis() when plotting to the postscript device. They show up fine on the x11 device, and work with the postscript device when the default tickmarks are used (those added by plot()). I am using R-62.1 from the RedHat5.0 rpm's on i86 Linux. Do later snapshots correct this, or is this a running bug in R awaiting the

X-Axis Label Overwritten By TickMark Values
Can someone tell me how to fix the left margin of plot region such that the tick values don't overwrite the x-axis label? I haven't been able to set the correct par option to fix this... TIA ------------ grdev <- function(...) { get(getOption("device"))(...) } plotFixMe <- function(spectrum, ...) { saved.par <- par(las = 1, tcl = 0.3)

forcing all tick labels to plot
I'm trying to find a way to force all the x-axis tick labels to plot, regardless whether or not they overlap or look pretty. V is a factor with, say, 4 levels. A call to plot(V) gives a histogram-like plot, one bar for each level in V. The problem is that all the label names may not be plotted because some of the names are lengthy and would tend to overlap if plotted. I don't care

shifting ticks to left or right
Hey list, Does anybody knows a command to centre the tick mark labels exactly between the tick points (right shift)? And then to exclude the last tick label on the right? I know one can shift them using the 'hadj' option in par. But I am wondering if there is a more convenient command! Thanks a lot!! Stefan [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Orientation of tickmarks labels in boxplot/plot

Define tick mark width
Hello, Is there a way to define the width of the axis tick marks on traditionnal plots? I did not find anything specific on this topic in the help and par(lwd=...) does not affect the tick marks. I guess that using axes=FALSE and recreating the axis with the axis() command could do the trick but I wonder if there is no easier way. Thanks in advance Sebastien
