Deb-4.0 Etch and sources.list for R
Hi Folks, I'm running Debian-4.0 Etch, installed last September from a DVD, and regularly updated as things arise. I have R version 2.4.0 Patched (2006-11-25 r39997) installed (initially at the time of first installation of Debian, as provided by Debian), along with a variety of packages. I'd like to be able to connect to the CRAN repositories for Debian R, for updates etc. When I visit

R, VR, and Debian
Hi Folks, A while ago (September 2007) I set up an experimental Debian 4.0 Etch installation, and installed R on it, along with several packages -- including e1071 and the "Bundle" VR -- by means of the Debian package manager. Most of the time, R works fine. But not always. Just now, I wanted to try the code suggested by Johannes H?sing for "Stroparia"'s Multiset

[LLVMdev] mixed bc file
I have a question with llvm-gcc and llvm-gfortran. Is it possible that llvm-ld can combine different bc files compiled from C programme and Fortran Programme together? For example: Compile a c program into llvm bc file by the task: # llvm-gcc -emit-llvm test.c -c -o test.bc and then compile a fortran program into llvm bc file by the task: # llvm-gfortran -emit-llvm testf.f -c -o testf.bc And

[LLVMdev] llvm-gfortran gives errors on AMD64-Ubuntu
Hi, I have installed llvm and llvm-gfortran on Pentium4 machine using 32-bit Ubuntu, it works fine. I recently installed them on AMD64-Ubuntu 8.04, llvm-gfortran gave me following errors $ llvm-gfortran -Wall hello.f95 -o hellof /home/jli127/LLVM/llvm-gcc/install/bin/../lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.2.1/../../../../lib64/libgfortran.a(error.o): In function `_gfortrani_gfc_itoa':

gfortran 9 quantreg bug
I?d like to solicit some advice on a debugging problem I have in the quantreg package. Kurt and Brian have reported to me that on Debian machines with gfortran 9 library(quantreg) f = summary(rq(foodexp ~ income, data = engel, tau = 1:4/5)) plot(f) fails because summary() produces bogus estimates of the coefficient bounds. This example has been around in my R package from the earliest days of R,

[LLVMdev] llvm-gfortran problems
Hello, Sorry for the late reply. Using dragonegg worked well, thanks all! Just as a note... I had to use llvm-ld during the link step because gfortran could not link bitcode. Here's an example of the error shown when using gfortran instead of llvm-ld: $ ${GCC_4_5_0}/bin/gfortran hw.f -c -fplugin=${DRAGONEGG_PLUGIN}/dragonegg.so -o hw.o -flto -emit-llvm -S $ ${LLVM_2_9}/bin/opt -mem2reg hw.o

[LLVMdev] llvm-gfortran problems
Hmm.. I didn't explain the problem completely last time. I am creating a drop-in replacement for gcc and gfortran that runs an additional pass on the bitcode before generating the native binary. Here's whats happening: If the source code compilation process builds a static library (.a archive file), I need a means to link the `.a' file statically into the application. So if the

I see. And what's the purpose for outputting bitcode into *.o and *.a files? Do you want to perform an LLVM pass on linking step? 2011/9/13 Ashay Rane <ashay.rane at tacc.utexas.edu>: > Hmm.. Thats correct. But using llc becomes a problem when I have archives (.a files). I could, in theory, extract its contents to a tempdir and then use llc and link but just wondering if there is a more elegant solution. Ashay On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 3:00 PM, Dmitry N. No, I am running the LLVM pass at the compilation step. So by the time I reach the link step, the transformed bitcode has been generated. Ashay On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 4:12 PM, Dmitry N. Sorry, at what step do you need archive? llc emits binary, it does not perform any linking, thus it does not need anything except the input bytecode file. Then during linking you can link whatever archives of binaries you want. 2011/9/13 Ashay Rane <ashay.rane at tacc.utexas.edu>: > Thats correct. Ashay, If I understand correctly, in hw.o you would have llvm bytecode, while linker expects regular object binary. Probably first you need to emit asm out of bytecode using llc? - D. 2011/9/12 Ashay Rane <ashay.rane at tacc.utexas.edu>: > Hello, > Sorry for the late reply. [LLVMdev] gfortran calling convention
Another option might be g95 instead of gfortran. I haven't used it for a while, but I seem to recall it working fine in gcc 4.0.1. [LLVMdev] llvm-gfortran problems
Hello, I have been trying to compile a few small programs [ http://www.esm.psu.edu/~ajm138/fortranexamples.html] using llvm-gfortran. Since I run my own pass on the generated bitcode, I have had to split the compilation process into using llvm-gfortran, opt and then llvm-ld (for linking, as I do with C/C++ programs). For now, I'll drop the `opt' statement. Here's what I see while

[LLVMdev] fink llvm-gcc42 test packaging
I've created fink packaging for a building the llvm and llvm-gcc-4.2 svn pulls under fink on Mac OS X. Hopefully the fink info script and patch should be clear enough for some comments on my build approach. The llvm-gcc and llvm-g++ compilers seem okay so far. The llvm-gfortran compiler seems to always spew a warning.. WARNING: 128-bit integers not supported! ...even when just compiling a

'plm'/'kinship' package on Debian Etch?
Hi Folks, Has anyone got a compiled binary of the package 'plm' and/or of the package 'kinship' for Debian Etch? I'm asking because I'd like to install 'plm', but have failed because it depends on 'kinship', and 'kinship' refuses to compile on my Debian Etch. The underlying reason is the Debian refuses to allow me to install the development

Sweave issue: quotes in verbatim-like output print incorrectly
Hi all I love Sweave; use it all the time. But I recently received a new computer, and ever since I have had a problem I've never seen before. For example, I place the following in my Snw file: <<>>= sms <- read.table("http://www.sci.usq.edu.au/staff/dunn/Datasets/applications/popular/smsspeed.dat", header=TRUE) attach(sms) sms.lm <- lm( Time ~ Age*Phone,
