Need formatting help - ctree - plot.party - node_hist
Hi,
I am trying to get the terminal nodes of a plot of a ctree object to look nice.
Using the iris data I have:
library(party)
mtree <- ctree(Species ~ ., data=iris)
plot(mtree,terminal_panel=node_barplot(mtree))
The terminal nodes don't display the species names because the names
are displayed horizontally. ?I would like to reduce the size of the
labels and make the terminal nodes

Problem with party and ordered factors
Hi All,
i've got a problem using the ctree function of the party package. I've
searched around a lot but couldn't manage it.
I've got an ordered factor as response. As far as i know i have to use
scores to be able to use this ordered factor. But if i do so i get a tree
which predicts all observations as the first level of my ordered factor.
In order to test if i did anything

fontsize in mosaic plot lables
Hi List,
I am trying unsucessfully to modify the fontsize of lables in mosaic:
require(vcd)
mosaic(Titanic, pop=FALSE,
labeling_args=list(rot_labels=c(bottom=90,top=90),
set_varnames = c(Sex = "Gender"),
gp_text=gpar(fontsize=20))) #can't get it to resize text
tab <- ifelse(Titanic < 6, NA, Titanic)
# it works for labeling_cells
labeling_cells(text = tab,

adding a caption to a mosaic plot?
Dear all:
Is there a way to add text to the margins or outer margins of a mosaic plot using the vcd package? I understand the margins argument to mosaic, but I don't know how to add text to that.
I'd like to add a caption to a plot. If possible, I'd like to know how to set the font and size for that function as well. My plot looks roughly as below.
Thank you for your time!

ctree
Hello,
I plotted a nice tree with "ctree" . It shows 3 nodes with the prediction of
my 2 groups. (see picture)
Unfortunately I need a larger scale to read the exact prediction of my
groups to get the specificity and sensitivity. I tried to change the scale
with "axis" but it didn't work, my guess because it's not a normal graph
with x and y axis.
Has someone an idea

mob(party) formula question
I try tu use mob() with my data.frame ('data.frame': 288 obs. of 81
variables; factors, numerics and ordered factors)
My response is a binary variable and I should use for modelling a logistic
regression (family=binomial).
I read in the "MOB" Vignette that I could use a formula like this if I would
like to have only partitioning variables apart from the response.

make installworld fails : touch not found ?
Hi, hackers :
Yesterday night and this morning, I cvsup my system to latest STABLE branch
source (RELENG_4). All make buildworld, buildkernel, and installkernel
procedure was completed with no error. But when I boot into single user mode
and try to make installworld, I always got " touch: not found " error.
Does anyone encounter this situation ? I have no idea about that. :-(

vcd package --- change layout of plot
Hello,
I'm trying to use the vcd package to analyze survey data. Expert judges
ranked possible features for product packaging. Seven features were
listed, and 19 judges split between 2 cities ranked them.
The following code (1) works, but the side-by-side plots for Cities PX,
SF are shrunk too much. Stacking PX on top of SF would make for a
better plot. (I could switch the order of

I've sent a similar query before, but didn't receive any answers.

adjusting textsize and spacing in mosaic (vcd package)
I'm trying to find a way to change the font size in a mosaic plot (the
grid version, not the base graphics one).
Here's an example to demonstrate:
#Basic plot
library(vcd)
mosaic(HairEyeColor, shade = TRUE)
#Bad first guess: this stops the default cell colouring, and doesn't
change the font size
mosaic(HairEyeColor, shade = TRUE, gp=gpar(fontsize=16))
#This successfully changes

Ctree Question
Hello,
I've been using ctree and have developed a 55 node - 28 terminal solution.
As can be imagined, the plot is difficult to travel down each of the major
branches.
I've read the help files for ctree I saw where terminal nodes can be color
coded.
plot(airct, type = "simple")
> plot(airct, terminal_panel = node_boxplot(airct, col = "blue", + fill =

Changing grid defaults
I'm trying to use the vcd package to produce mosaic plots for my class
notes, written in Sweave and using the LaTeX's beamer document class.
For projecting the notes in class, I use a dark background with light
foreground colors. It's easy enough to change the defaults for R's
standard graphics to match my color scheme (using the fg, col.axis,
col.lab, col.main, and col.sub

monochrome mosaic plot in vcd package
helpeRs,
I have a nice looking mosaic plot in an article to be published
soon. Sadly, the published version will be in black and white and so ruin
the advantage of the default shading scheme of tiles.
What would readers suggest as an alternative shading scheme? If I have a
black-and-white shading scheme graduated according to suitable cutoffs I
won't be able to tell positive from

mtree vs tripwire
Hi all.
This might seem really naive, but can mtree be used effectively as
a native-to-core-OS tripwire equivalent? Would it be as efficient in
terms of time-to-run and resource requirements?
What sort of pitfalls should I be aware of?
Has anyone here done this? If so, would you care to share your
scripts/techniques?
Thanks,
Dave

grayscale residuals. The challenge as I see it is that one can only

Extract node names from BinaryTree in package party
Hi there,
I need to extract the variable names from all nodes (except the
terminal nodes) from a ctree object, e.g.
library(party)
mammoct <- ctree(ME ~ ., data = mammoexp)
plot(mammoct)
how can I extract the varnames from node 1 (SYMPT) and node 3 (PB)
from the fitted object "mammoct"?
Many Thanks, Sven
