table, xyplot, names, & loops
Hi R community,
I'm just starting out in R and have a basic question about xyplot and
tables. Suppose I had a table of data with the following names: Height,
Age_group, City. I'd like to plot mean Height vs Age_group for each City.
When I try to do the following:
> library(lattice)
> xyplot(mean(Height) ~ Age_group | City)
of course I get just one data point, the mean Height for

ftable and xtabs
Hoping someone can help me with xtabs and ftable. I'm trying to get a pair
of ftables (possibly more) next to each other. For example:
> dunhill_lights_xtab<-ftable(xtabs(grossedupobs ~ gender+age_group +
dunhill_lights, data = ciggs))
> dunhill_lights_xtab
dunhill_lights No Yes
gender age_group

format.pval () and printCoefmat ()
Hi List,
My goal is to force R not to print in scientific notation in the sixth column (rel_diff - for the p-value) of my data frame (not a matrix).
I have used the format.pval () and printCoefmat () functions on the data frame. The R script is appended below.
This issue is that use of the format.pval () and printCoefmat () functions on the data frame gives me the desired results, but coerces

help with ActiveRecord joins
I''m working on a fairly complex join query and could use a bit of advice
from more expert users of ActiveRecord.
I have an events table with quite a lot of data, with has_many relations
to categories, age_groups, and event_images. In my first naive
implementation, each event had a date, so to load all upcoming events
efficiently, I''d do:
Event.find(:all,

Session trouble
I am having a problem with an assignment to an object stored in session.
for example when I am in console
o = NewOrder.new
# dl = DeliveryLocation.new
# o.delivery_location = dl #=> returns a delivery location object
# o.delivery_loaction.save #=> returns true
when I am using the controller
delivery_location = DeliveryLocation.new(params[:delivery_location])

where are sources diffs?
Hello all,
I'd like to update my local src tree (from Wine 20040615), and I'd rather grab
a diff instead of the full 10MB so tarball; the README in source.winehq.org
refers to some 'Wine-yymmdd.diff.gz' but I can't find any of such.
Did I overlook some infos, or are such diffs not available, and I'm supposed
to use CVS?
thanks

hoverclass on droppable zone
Hi guys,
I''m trying to make a drag''n''drop portal using sortable element. I
would like to apply the "hoverclass" option only on the droppable zone
instead of the column border.
Any idea a about the solution?
Thanks for any help,
Sabri

In environment.rb I have the following line:
config.active_record.observers = :new_order_observer

Calculate Distance and Aggregate Data?
Hi all,
I've been struggling learning R and need to turn to the list again.
I've got a dataset (comma-delimited file) with the following fields: recid, latitude, longitude, population, dwelling and age. For each observation, I'd like to calculate the total number of people and dwellings and average age within 2 k.m. Distance could be Euclidean, however, a proper distance

JUST A COUPLE OF NUBBY QUESTIONS BETWEEN ME AND FREEDOM
1. What does ~ mean? cd ie. "~/.wine/drive_c/"
2. Steam runs. Hurray. But I can't chat with friends. I can see their messages, but not mine. I assume they never get them because they never say anything more.
3. I launch TF2, I get the valve logo, source logo, then BAM back to desktop. No error boxes. And my screen resolution stays "minimized" to what tf2 was

large cover size bug with android?
When trying to play vorbis or opus files that have large cover sizes

Has anyone encountered this before or know if it is a known android or
