From 2.2.1 to 2.3
Hello everyone.
Currently I am running R 2.2.1 (windows), and I will like to update to
2.3. I wanted to ask if it is possible to update without having to removed
2.2.1; or do I first need to delete 2.2.1?
Thank you very much.

Glimmix and glm
Hello.
Some months age an e-mail was posted in which a comparison between Glimmix
and glm was discussed. I have not been able to find that e-mail on the R
archive. Does anyone recall the date of the above e-mail?
Thank you very much.

Optim and likelihood computations
Hello everyone.
I want to write some likelihood functions to use with optim. For example
AR-structures, I have written a couple of functions that appear to get the
job done. But, since I am new to R, I wanted to ask if there are any
references in this topic.
Thanks in advance,

good editor for R sources ?
Dear all,
(Sorry if the question has already been answered.)
Could someone please suggest a good text editor for
writing R sources ?
(I know emacs exists ... but I find it a bit heavy).
I use crimson (http://www.crimsoneditor.com) which is
small and simple, but the R syntax seems not to be supported.
Thanks for any advice

Asterisk 0.7.1 RH 7.3 RPMS Released
Hello all,
Per my last message to the list, and my promise to the Developers
that I'd create RPMS if they released 0.7.0, I would like to announce the
availability of experimental RPMS for Asterisk release 0.7.1. These are
targeted at RedHat 7.3 systems, running the latest Kernel release
(2.4.20-28.7). As the RPMS mature and people submit comments, changes,
updates and patches, I will

button_to with image?
I''m trying to use button_to and have it use an image in place of the
submit button. I had figured it would work the same as link_to like so:
button_to(image_tag("editicon", :size => "16x16", :border => 0), :action
=> ''edit'', :id => person.id)
but this instead displays the image code as the button name. Surely
there is a simple way to

Asterisk RPMS for RH9 + RH7.3
Hello all,
It's my birthday today, so as my present I would like everyone
possible to download and test my updated set of RPMS for Asterisk 0.7.1.
By popular request, I installed and built a set of RPMS for RedHat 9.0,
and in the process fixed a bunch of issues from the initial build. I have
also updated and will be maintaining a page on the Asterisk Wiki located

What makes R different from other programming languages?
My intention is to give a presentation about R programming language
for software developers. I would like to ask, what are the things that
make R different from other programming languages? What are the
specific cases where Java/C#/Python developer might say "Wow, that was
neat!"? What are the things that are easy in R, but very difficult in
other programming languages (like Java)?

Looking for transformation to overcome heterogeneity of variances
Dear All
My data consists in 96 groups, each one with 10 observations. Levene's
test suggests that the variances are not equal, and therefore I have
tried to apply the classical transformations to have homocedasticity
in order to be able to use ANOVA. Unfortunately, no transformation
that I have used transforms my data into data with homocedasticity.
The histogram of variances is at
