Fitting Data to a Noncentral Chi-Squared Distribution using MLE
Hi, I have written out the log-likelihood function to fit some data I have (called ONES20) to the non-central chi-squared distribution. >library(stats4) >ll<-function(lambda,k){x<-ONES20; 25573*0.5*lambda-25573*log(2)-sum(-x/2)-log((x/lambda)^(0.25*k-0.5))-log(besselI(sqrt(lambda*x),0.5*k-1,expon.scaled=FALSE))} > est<-mle(minuslog=ll,start=list(lambda=0.05,k=0.006))

MLE for noncentral t distribution
I have a data with 236 observations. After plotting the histogram, I found that it looks like non-central t distribution. I would like to get MLE for mu and df. I found an example to find MLE for gamma distribution from "fitting distributions with R": library(stats4) ## loading package stats4 ll<-function(lambda,alfa) {n<-200 x<-x.gam

fitdistr()
I am trying to fit the chi-squared distribution to a set of data using the fitdistr function found in the MASS4 library, the data set is called ONES3, I have loaded it using the command ONES3<-read.table("ONES3.pdf",header=TRUE,na="NA") I print out the dataset ONES3 to the screen to make sure it has loaded Then I try to fit this data using the command

MLE for noncentral t distribution
Hi, Actually I am facing a similar problem. I would like to fit both an ordinary (symmetric) and a non-central t distribution to my (one-dimensional) data (quite some values.. > 1 mio.). For the symmetric one, fitdistr or funInfoFun (using fitdistr) from the qAnalyst package should do the job, and for the non-central one.. am I right to use gamlss(x ~ 1, family=GT()) ? Anyway, I am a little

Help MLE
Dear, I'm starting on R language. I would like some help to implement a MLE function. I wish to obtain the variables values (alpha12, w_g12, w_u12) that maximize the function LL = Y*ln(alpha12 + g*w_g12 + u*w_u12). Following the code: rm(list=ls()) ls() library(stats4) Model = function(alpha12,w_g12,w_u12) { Y = 1 u = 0.5 g = -1 Y*log(alpha12 + g*w_g12 + u*w_u12) } res =

wrapping mle()
Hi, How can we set the environment for the minuslog function in mle()? The call in this code fails because the "ll" function cannot find the object 'y'. Modifying from the example in ?mle: library(stats4) ll <- function(ymax=15, xhalf=6) { -sum(stats::dpois(y, lambda=ymax/(1+x/xhalf), log=TRUE)) } fit.mle <- function(FUN, x, y) { loglik.fun <- match.fun(FUN)

How can I do these simulations with R code
1) The Pareto P(alfa) distribution is defined by its density f(x|alfa) =alfa*X^(-alfa-1) over (1 to infinity). Show that it can be generated as the -1/alfa power of a uniforme variate. Plot the histogram and the density. 2) The Poisson distribution P(lambda) is connected to the exponential distribution through the Poisson process in that it can be simulated by generating exponential random

call Fortran from R
Dear R users, I have to call fortran program from within R (R 2.8.1 on ubuntu 8.10 machine). Suppose I have a fortran code like this (this is only a toy model, my working model is far more complex, but input/output is similar) DOUBLE PRECISION FUNCTION model(times, alfa, beta) DOUBLE PRECISION alfa, beta, times model=beta*sin(times)+alfa*cos(times) END FUNCTION which

Hello everybody! I keep on trying to make my samba installation to work. I have tried a couple threads before but I have not been able to pinpoint the problem. So, yesterday I made a second last attempt to solve the problem before my boss forces me to install Windows2003 since it works out of the box. The scenario is that I'm trying to use Samba (Suse 10) as a fileserver that

How to use mle or similar with integrate?
Hi I have the following formula (I hope it is clear - if no, I can try to do better the next time) h(x, a, b) = integral(0 to pi/2) ( ( integral(D/sin(alpha) to Inf) ( ( f(x, a, b) ) dx ) dalpha ) and I want to do an mle with it. I know how to use mle() and I also know about integrate(). My problem is to give the parameter values a and b to the

greek letters do not work in expression
Dear all, I appreciate suggestions for following problem. I wrote to RStudio: plot(c(1,20),c(1,20), xlab = expression(paste(alfa))) or the same happen when I wrote: plot(c(1,20),c(1,20), xlab = expression(alfa)) what happen is, that description under x label is exactly "alpha", not greek letter alfa (?). Please where should I search problem, or what information to sent to list for

a bug of function plot (PR#4405)
Full_Name: Ximing Zhao Version: R 1.7.1 OS: MacOs X Submission from: (NULL) (64.136.27.51) When I used function plot in R 1.7.1, I found two bugs. My whole function is this: ***************** drawexp<-function(X,x,c,b){ exp<-function28(X,x,c,b) if(max(exp)>=max(dexp(x,rate=1))){ plot(x,exp, type="l",main= paste("Exponential ,n=",length(X),"

nls() and loop
Hello I?m need fitt growth curve with data length-age. I want to evaluate which is the function that best predicts my data, to do so I compare the Akaikes of different models. I'm now need to evaluate if changing the initial values changes the parameters and which do not allow to estimate the model. To do this I use the function nls(); and I randomize the initial values (real positive number).
