CentOS7 KDE - post-boot splash screen
Hello List Members, I decided to install C7 KDE on a workstation for a friend of mine. Works great, but the post-boot KDE splash screen (light blue and has 3 or more up ^ arrows that move from the lower center upwards) is a bit of a frustration for that person. I've determined that one can press the Escape key and move from that bluish splash to the login screen. (And at one point rolling the

dual heads, Radeon
Dell OptiPlex 980, Radeon HD 4550 xorg figures it should use the r500 driver. I start with no /etc/X11/xorg.conf. It comes up, mirroring. I use the gnome applet - the same thing, btw, with system-config-display - tell it to use dual head, and spanning desktops. Exit X. Restart, and the second monitor goes into powersave mode. Try to exit X, either via logout, or

gradient generation
Dear R-help subscribers; I have a question regarding making gradients in R. I've searched on the web, but was only able to find functions that make a gradient between color X and Y, which is not what I want. I want to 'pick out' individual, smaller pieces of a gradient based on a range of numbers. Say that I have a range of numbers, leading from 0 to 1. Then I want 0 to refer to

feature idea for wine : stereo 3D
NVidia is pushing a 200 dollar product which is nothing more than shutter glasses and ties into DirectX 10, encouraging people to move to Vista, which I personally believe is yet another nail in the coffen of closing the PC platform. Now I think a better idea would be to add a feature to wine that permits stereo imaging to be added to any program that makes use of 3D features in wine, to somehow

trouble with cloud output to bmp when in loop
I have some data that I need to view in various 3-D clouds. To better see the cloud structure on a 2-D screen I would like to output a bunch of bmp files with clouds at slightly different angles, then run them through an external program to animate them. But I'm having trouble getting cloud() from the lattice package to output to bmp files. Oddly, this is only a problem when outputting

My wife played this game -Fishdom H20- at her sister's and was caught up in it. It can be downloaded through Yahoo! Games. We are trying to run it on 32 bit Ubuntu Karmic- newest wine version from Wine repo- on our laptop with Intel Centrino Duo, nvidia GE Force GO 7400 256 mb with newest driver from ppa. The problem-- the game loads and plays with no problem, but its nature is to find

[PATCH] Rely on new augeas lens for modules.conf and conf.modules
We were previously forcing the augeas Modprobe lens to match modules.conf and conf.modules. It turns out that the contents of these files are quite different to modprobe.conf, requiring a new lens. This change keeps the logic which looks for where modules should go, but doesn't update the augeas configuration. If there is no augeas lens for /etc/modules.conf, any attempt to parse or modify it

[LLVMdev] LENS Project
Hi, I think it is a little bit off topic, but perhaps someone can help me: I found on the LLVM-website something about the LENS project and the project page (http://llvm.org/ProjectsWithLLVM/#LENS; http:// www.cs.ucsd.edu/~mmccrack/lens/). But I can't found if or where I can download it. Is someone on the list who uses LENS? Thank you, Nico

Transform and "Lenses xx and xx could be used to load this file"
Hi David, We have a general problem using Augeas in libguestfs and I wonder if you have any advice. The problem is that we often -- as with yesterday's patch -- add new config file paths to lenses. Or we want to parse config files which are not necessarily in the exact paths that Augeas is expecting. Now it's easy enough to parse such files using an arbitrary lens by calling

sprintf("%d", integer(0)) aborts
In R's sprintf() if any of the arguments has length 0 the function aborts. E.g., > sprintf("%d", integer(0)) Error in sprintf("%d", integer(0)) : zero-length argument > sprintf(character(), integer(0)) Error in sprintf(character(), integer(0)) : 'fmt' is not a non-empty character vector This comes up in code like x[nchar(x)==0] <-

[LLVMdev] Another project using LLVM: LENS, a program investigation framework.
Hi, I'm using LLVM as part of my thesis project and wanted to let the community know about it. (And get your feedback :) The project is called LENS. It's a file format and a framework for storing generic information about a program based on the control structure of the program, and quickly building tools to interact with that data. It might be best to think of the format as an external
