Dear R-help, Has anyone been able to compile R on Linux using Intel's C(++) and Fortran compilers? When I tried it (using R-devel from March 19), I get the following error when it gets to compiling the "methods" package. Can some one tells me where to start looking? What is "error 139"? Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers, Andy PS: This is on Mandrake 9.0, running

Methods package is now attached by default
The current r-devel (aka R 1.7.0) now attaches the package "methods" by default at startup. A new option, "defaultPackages", is set to c("methods", "ctest") by default, causing the .First in package base to require those two packages at startup. There are two main known differences from having methods attached: - the definition of class() changes, in

UC centos 5 with xfs root?
There are 3 issues here: Grub, the kernel and RedHat. 1) Grub won't run in an XFS /boot partition, but will happily run xfs_state1_5 to boot from an XFS root partition. 2) The kernel has supported XFS quite happily since at least 2005, I am looking at an SGI Propack 4 manual of February that year and it states that SLES 9 SP 1 contains the kernels with XFS support. 3) May be an issue.

NAT router and off-premise SIP audio problem
Our network is connected to a cablemodem using a dynamic DNS service to resolve our address. The Asterisk server has been alternately set up behind a NAT router and without a NAT router -- that is, with two NICs, one of which is providing NAT to the rest of the network; the office SIPs are behind that with static private IP addresses. Off-premise SIPs are all behind simple NAT routers.

Transcoding g.711 -> g.729

Migrate from RHAS 4 to CentOS 4.2
I have a SGI Altix 350 (ia64) that came with RHAS 4, but without any paid support. I would like to migrate the server over to CentOS. Here is what I've pieced together from some older posts by Johnny, can someone confirm this should work? I know this is somewhat covered in the FAQ, although both entries refer to FC or WBEL, which already have built-in yum support. Install the

Difficult debug
I haven't done any R memory debugging lately, but https://www.mail-archive.com/rcpp-devel at lists.r-forge.r-project.org/msg10289.html shows how I used to have gdb break where valgrind finds a problem so you could examine the details. Also, running your code after running gctorture(TRUE) can help track down memory problems. -Bill On Wed, Feb 7, 2024 at 12:03?PM Therneau, Terry M., Ph.D.
