motivation for setRepositories and chooseCRANmirror
I have some questions and observations about these:
Will these replace manually setting options(CRAN), which doesn't work in
R-2.1.0?
In R-2.1.0, setRepositories() looks to see if options("repos") contains
a CRAN entry and will not override that CRAN entry even if the
$R_HOME/etc/repositories file (which setRepositories reads from)
contains a CRAN entry. Why is this? The user

I can not understand how to install the package lpsolve_1.1.9.zip
I have read the FAQ and the help pages carefully, but it still not

install.packages() for local source file
Wish to install a local source package on Un*x platform from
within R. Same thing as I can accomplish from cmdline as
$ export R_LIBS=~/R/library
$ cd /path/to/pkg
$ R CMD INSTALL -l $R_LIBS <pkgname>
So, how do you go about this anyway?
And isn't this a bug in 'install.packages'?

install.packages question / suggestion
Hello,
when trying to write an R-file, which automatically installs and updates a
given list of packages, I had two problems with install.packages()
1) install.packages("<package>") will install <package>, no matter if
<package> has already been installed.
2) the readline() at the end of install.packages, which asks the user, if
the downloaded files should be

akima 0.4-5, interpp() bug = COMMON block problem
Hi,
I'm currently hunting a bug in the akima library, especially in the code
behind the interpp.old function (bi-variate linear interpolation).
It is based on a triangulation algorithm, interpolation at a given point
needs to know the triangle which contains this point, then the
interpolation is a straightforward calculation based on the three
vertexes.
The problem is: Sometimes the triangle
