Old problem with get_file_version , Windows 2003 x64 (Jerry, you know this one!)
Jerry, All, I am trying to get x64 drivers installed onto a Samba 3.0.24 server, however I am getting an error that looks like it was last seen in 2005, ie when Windows checks the driver is uploaded OK, it thinks it's not for the correct architecture: [2007/04/30 17:18:04, 3] smbd/dosmode.c:unix_mode(147) unix_mode(x64/3/UNIDRV.DLL) returning 0744 [2007/04/30 17:18:04, 2]

Newbie: IE5.5
howdy, i am very new to WINE and have looked around for some docs on howto get IE5.5 running, but can't seem to find anything straight foward. i just installed RH7.2, and am running Ximian GNOME, without a Windows partition. WINE is apparently installed by default with RH7.2. i tried the simple 'archnid' (solitaire) program and seemed to work ok. however, i have the IE5.5 executable,

Data corruption
We used rsync 2.6.3 on a couple of Solaris 8 machines to update an Oracle database from one machine to another. Here is the procedure I used: The source database was up and running so this operation was similar to doing a hot backup. I queried the source database for a list of tablespace names, and for each tablespace, I queried the list of datafiles. I put the tablespace in hot backup mode,

Fwd: Re: [Olpc-open] XO review & Theora
As far as video playback is concerned, it seems to mostly come down to how the video is compressed - although Gnash (the open flash player) still has a ways to go to play flash media as well as the closed source flash players. For the Colingo activity and library, we've found it very difficult to find optimum settings for flash and instead have decided to go with Theora. We've managed to

Asterisk PBX Functions via SIP phone
Hi All, I am using a Grandstream BT100 and I have been trying to get the PBX features to work for DND, call foward, etc. These functions do work when I use my POTS phones hooked up to my Zap cards. But I cannot get the PBX functions (ie *78, *79) to work using my SIP phones. Is there a feature that has to be enabled to do this? I know these functions are available within the GS phone but all of

No action from AJAX link_to_remote...
AJAX & Ruby & Rails newbie here. I''ve got a link to remote that I believe should be working, but doesn''t seem in fact to do *anything*. I''m looking at the webrick log, since the Book says I should be seeing some hot POST action in there, but there''s literally no change when I click on the JS link. From looking at the source that''s

Spring VON Wrap Up
Having just returned from four days at the VON show in Santa Clara, I thought I would submit a "highlights" message. I hope others who attended the show will take the opportunity to add, as there was far more to see than I can cover on my own. [VoIP IS BIG] First, I have to say that VoIP is BIG. It is the buzz technology of the day. The show was packed, and everybody there was there

Fwd: Why R is 200 times slower than Matlab ?
This is what I refer to as "ab uno disce omnes"-thinking: -- from one example all is revealed -- but this is the antithesis of statistical thinking. Here is an example function, others can probably do better. On a vector of length 300 it takes .018 seconds on my aging G5 ppc mac: pears <- function(x){ n <- length(x) A <- combos(n,2) rbind(x[A[1,]],x[A[2,]]) } This is

How are you supposed to remove faulted spares from pools?
We have a situation where all of the spares in a set of pools have gone into a faulted state and now, apparently, we can''t remove them or otherwise de-fault them. I''m confidant that the underlying disks are fine, but ZFS seems quite unwilling to do anything with the spares situation. (The specific faulted state is ''FAULTED corrupted data'' in ''zpool

SV: Mailing list growth
Hi Isn't this exactly what we _don't_ wanna do?! =) I suppose TDM and VoIP is supposed to interconnect not to be separated. i think it's nice with a busy list, it means some real hot stuff is happening, and that's good! rgds /staffan -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Fr?n: Luciano Ramos [mailto:lramos@telviso.com.ar] Skickat: den 9 januari 2004 14:12 Till:

Changing SWAT port or removing 2.2.7
Some of you have already read about my newbie fortune with this Samba3 install. Thanks to those who answered my original questions. Now I have something which I know is probably academic, and perhaps still newbie-related. When I installed Samba3 on Friday, it took me a little while to figure out that my names required adding a 3 to the end (SWAT3, SAMBA3, TESTPARM3, et al). I did not uninstall

ggplot2 and lattice
I am in the process of learning lattice graphics and have looked at ggplot2 a little. I would like to know if there is a "tutorial" that shows how to convert lattice code into ggplot code and vise versa. I am finally discovering the power of these two packages and would like suggestions to lessen my learning curve. I could not find a straight foward answer on the internet (I may have

mkstemp <filename> failed
I'm not really what you would call a linux newbie, but I managed to run into a problem with rsync that has me stumped. I want to conduct un-attended backups of various files and directories over about 3000 miles of Internet, so I chose sshd and rsync for the job. I wrote a pair of scripts to do the job, the first to run incremental tars on the localhost, the second to run the rsync client.

why is zpool import still hanging in opensolaris 2009.06 ??? no fix yet ???
Follow-up : happy end ... It took quite some thinkering but... i have my data back... I ended up starting without the troublesome zfs storage array, de-installed the iscsitartget software and re-installed it...just to have solaris boot without complaining about missing modules... That left me with a system that would boot as long as the storage was disconnected... Reconnecting it made the boot
