Problems installing R 2.1.1. from rpm (R-base-2.2.0-1.i586.rpm) on SuSE 10
Hi I have problems installing R 2.1.1. from rpm (R-base-2.2.0-1.i586.rpm) on SuSE 10. It installs fine, all dependances are OK (at least Yast does not complain) but when I try to run R, it gives the following error message: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libblas.so.3: undefined symbol: _gfortran_filename and R quits. blas version: 3.0-926 Any help appreciated, Rainer -- -- Rainer M.

Problem Installing R to SuSE 10 via RPM
Hi, I'm trying to install R from an rpm locally to my account (the reason I'm not doing it through yast/yast2/zypper is that the sys admin isn't yet willing to install it, and doesn't want to support it, but will help me support it if I install it locally -- in short, policy problems rather than technical). Below is the SuSE version, Kernel version, and rpm install error I'm

Samba server fails to save settings
Hi Rowland, Thanks for your help, I have been suspecting Suse's Yast too! Is there a samba configuration GUI tool I can use to launch it independent of Yast? This would help to chase yet another problem! Kind regards, Aref -----Original Message----- From: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] On Behalf Of Rowland Penny via samba Sent: 10 October 2018 17:05 To: samba at

Which version ? Advice please.
I have got wine 0.9.21-15.1 installed in Suse 10.0, but Yast Online Update keeps telling me to install 20050725-3.2, as it contains "an important security update". I believe 0.9.21-15.1 is the latest version, and I can see how Yast might be getting confused (I think it was mentioned in this group a while ago), but could some one please re-assure me that the "security" reason

Samba server fails to save settings
Hello, I am trying to add shares by configuring the server through Yast on an OpenSuse Tumblweed and KDE desktop on a Dell machine. The Samba package is version 4.9.1 on a i586 (32-bit) architecture. After making changes using the Samba Server GUI invoked from Yast I press OK and come out. But none of the changes are saved. I would be grateful if some could help. Kind regards,

Xen Installation Problem
Hi All, When I was tring to use Yast(Opensuse 11.1) to Create Virtual Machine, Yast can start the virtual machine installation process but cannot find any disk, so the installation fails. I encountered the same problem when installing Windows XP and Opensuse. Do I need to create a virtualized disk first? Or how can I specify which disk to install? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Eddie

Iptables front-end
Hi all, ?What iptables do you use to manage iptables? ?Or maybe not? Simply curiosity, so I'm coming from openSUSE and in that distro there is a YaST module front-end (YaST firewall). OpenSUSE 11.4 (2.6.39-30.1), Xen 4.0.2 - Device 0 (vif) Could not be connected
All, This is a fresh, un-f#$ked-with OpenSUSE install after adding the Tumbleweed repository and doing a dup. I installed the Hypervisor with Tools for which it prompted me for Xen or QEMU and I chose Xen. No bridge was made. When I go to create a fully virtualised machine, it nao has the error: Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Could not find the bridge, and none was specified.

Samba 4 DC Firewall settings
Samba 4.0.4 on openSUSE 12.3 Hi everyone. Does anyone have a list of ports which have to be open to allow full DC operation? I'm no expert in firewalls and only have Yast at my disposal to configure it. I've tried opening samba server and DNS server ports via Yast but I must be missing something because I have to turn off the firewall to e.g. join a Windows client to the domain.

CRAN versions of lme4/Matrix don't appear to work with R 2.1.1
I am currently using R 2.1.1 under Windows and I do not seem to be able to load the current versions of lme4/Matrix. I have run 'update.packages.' I understand this is still experimental software but I would like access to a working version. Thanks. Samba Guide, SuSe and Yast
Hi, I'm using SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 9. I've setup a Samba/LDAP solution according to ch5 of the Samba Guide. It's working - that's great :-) Now I'd like to know if anyone tried to manage the users database using tools provided by Yast. Is there a risk to mess up everything ? Did anyone try that before ? Thanks for your help, Olivier Thibaut.

Login incorrect problem (SUSE-packaged Xen)
Hello, I am a newbie of Xen and just started with SUSE9.3-packaged Xen. The packaged document README.SuSE and script mk-xen-resucue-img.sh did me a great help, I could run sample ttylinux-xen and rescue-based Suse with xen. Now I''m trying YaST dirinstall. I Created a root FS image and installed a "minimal system required" using YaST . This domain booted and login console

Xen boots to blank screen
It seems like there are several messages in the archive and in various forums about this problem, but I do not see a clear course of action for how to solve it. I am relatively new to Linux, compounding my problem. I just built a new machine for the express purpose of running Xen so my girlfriend and I could experiment and learn about different Linux distros. I am running on an Intel DG35EC

compiz-0.7.6-16.1 - Forces Yast s/w management to full-screen no decorations
Listmates: For the past 1 or 2 compiz releases, for some reason it opens Yast software management full-screen with no window decorations in kde. kwin gives the normal windowed yast s/w management. Compiz also ignores the special windows settings in kde for this package. Is there anything I can check or tweak to correct this? Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Rankin Law Firm, PLLC 510

Install R 2.3.1 on SUSE Linux
Hello: I am new to Linux, and I am trying to install R 2.3.1 on SUSE Linux 10.0. The RPM installer, YAST, states that I need libgfortran.so.0. I have loaded Intel FORTRAN and GCC FORTRAN; but I still do not have the libgfortran.so.0 module YAST is asking for. Is there somewhere I can get this module for SUSE Linux 10.0. There is a post on the R-Help for this same problem; but I cannot seem to

Updates
SuSE tries to feed me Wine V20050211 as a security fix for the recent WMF vulnerability. OTOH, WneHQ says that this is fixed in V0.9.6. Can anyone tell me how to specify to "YOU" (YaST Online Updater) that I most certainly don't want that 20050211 version? Not now -- not ever! I am now using V0.9.7. If I permit "YOU" to perform automatic updates I get clobbered by this
