ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper.text_field
Hi, Is it possible to use the ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper.text_field with an instance variable instead of a model. e.g. In the controller: def meth @value = ''hi there'' end In view: <%= text_field ''value'', nil %> It doesn''t work with what is above (doesn''t like the nil) and produces very strange results replacing nil with

formhelper password_field only takes two arguments
When I look at the docs, password_field seems to take 3 arguments. So when I ''play around" with things and I attempt to pass three arguments to password_field ... I get an error saying that it only takes two parameters ("3 for 2") I am totally lost. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups

_form rendering question for adding multiple child objects
Hi I have been following a thread here.. http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/new?forum_id=3 but it did raise some new curiosities that I hope someone can help address here :) In particular it is with Duane''s super secret hack that works for multiple child objects > There''s a super-secret and mostly undocumented way of doing this > that''s kind of handy, actually.

text_area_tag not escaping content by default
I stumbled on the fact that text_area_tag does not HTML escape its content by default. For example: text_area_tag "body", "</textarea><script>alert(''xss'');<script>" If you try that, you''ll see that the content is inserted literally. Considering the fact that the tag helpers all encode their attribute values by default, does this

ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper instance methods should take an object reference rather than an object_name.
Hi ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper methods (e.g. #text_field, #check_box...) take object_name as an argument. From this argument they infer a name that is supposed to contains the reference to the relevant object. I can''t see why the FormHelper methods were designed that way. Compared to simply passing them a reference, the current way seems too complicated and an invitation to problems

White Screen of Death
Hello, I''ve heard these words to describe a RoR application returning an empty page. This happen from time to time even here, in the forum. That is the cause of this misbehaviour ? Is it related with something external to RoR itself ? What is the solution to avoid the WSOD ? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Parameters for FormOptionsHelper select vs. FormTagHelper select_tag
I must be missing something when it comes to the parameter differences between form FormOptionsHelper select and FormTagHelper select_tag. Code that follows, works perfectly - <%= f.select :unit, units_to_select(@product), :size=>"20"%> The following code, does not. The helper function never even seems to be called. <%= select_tag "unit",

White Cube of Death - fglrx_7_1_0_SUSE103-8.452.1-1
Listmates (only posting to one list) Compiz has been running great with the 8.433 driver except for the libGL SONAME lockup on exit. see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=344135 I just built and installed the 8.452 driver. Compiz would not start with the normal fusion-icon approach that I have been using with the 8.433 driver. This is on my Toshiba P35 laptop with an ATI
