sortable table rows?
I''ve been trying to make some table rows sortable using Scriptaculous. I''ve used: Sortable.create("secondlist", {tag:''tr'', treeTag:''table''}); and Sortable.create("secondlist", {tag:''tr''}); Neither of which works. Is it even possible to do this? Thanks, Daniel

Sortable Tables
I''ve put together a little library to provide sortable tables. It is heavily copied from http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser/sorttable/ (mentioned in the Wish List) but has been modified to match the same form as the prototype.js library and add some new features. I still need to clean up some of the comments, but everything is pretty much working at this point. I posted an

Problems with Prototype 1.4_rc0/1 and sortables
Cheers, I use the javascript lib from http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser/sorttable/ to sort tables. With prototype 1.4pre11 and earlier sorting in Firefox and IE works, with RC0 and RC1 it does not. Safari worked with 1.4pre6 or 7 but does not work with pre11. Somebody also seeing this? Pagination - why is it this hard?
Hi everyone, I''m at the end of my rope on this. I can''t get pagination to work with anything but a standard find on a model. If I try to do a search and customize the pagination, I get lots of different variations. My thought was to have the list action do what it does, but to pass it a list of search conditions from the search action. So, if search determines that we need

I''ve got the following setup: category (hm) <-> (bt) activity An activity has an amount, date, location, note, and category. I''m sorting my activities table by category_id (foreign key in activity), but how do I sort it by category_name instead? Basically I just need category_name in the result set. Here''s what I have now: @all = Activity.find(:all, :order

RJS plugin and rails 1.1
Currently I''m using the RJS plugin for my app. After I upgrade to the soon-to-be-released 1.1 (which has RJS support built in), will anything break after removing the plugin? Has anyone messed with the release candidate and RJS yet? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Trying to display data from two tables
Alrighty folks, I''m really trying here, and want to succeed with Ruby on Rails. I''m trying to display data that is linked from two tables using the Active Record naming conventions, as described in Agile Web book. The stripped-down basics; Database drop table if exists people; CREATE TABLE `people` ( `id` int(6) NOT NULL auto_increment, `lastname` varchar(30) NOT NULL,

special characters?
I''m not sure if this is something in Rails or MySQL, but characters like ? are showing up funky in my app. I see ''?'' in the DB using a query browser, but in the app it shows up as ''A1/4.'' Do I need to use another charset or something? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Whence "post" in a description?
I''m having the exact problem described in this earlier post: http://www.nabble.com/Odd-response.body-behavior-to12837556.html#a12837556 That is, after a post, response.body is just the controller/view string ("user/login" in my case). A kind of monkey patch and an invitation for criticism for all you (who know this stuff better than I do)
I''ve often felt the need including Rails'' view helpers within my controllers, if only for some simple things like formatting my flash notices with text helpers or html escaping. I loved this suggestion, which helps by not cluttering the namespace of controllers: http://snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/1799 But I wanted to generalize this a little to automatically include whatever
