Strange send_file problem
Or perhaps I am stumbling in newbie fashion (tho I have active_merchant
and a store site basically up and running in development mode - still I
don''t feel I always understand what is going on.)
So, when I have
send_file(filename, :type => ''application/x-zip'')
redirect :action => index
the send_file seems to hang, rather than complete. I''m deducing

send_file, RRDtool, require or session problem
Hi all,
I am new to RoR and ruby, but am a very experience PHP developer. Let
me give an overview of the problem.
I have a model Latency, which contains username, graph_name so the
logged in user can see his/her latency graphs.
In my ViewController I have a fuction view_latency which pulls the
correct latency object and runs latency.overview. latency.overview
creates a .png file in /tmp, and

TypeError during a redirection
Hi,
I have a problem with Rails 0.14.3. I have an application which uses 2
databases : oracle and postgresql. I can connect to the both databases
and use them.
The application works correctly (I can reach the controllers, add
records in the databases without errors) but during or after a
redirection I receive an error. I check with breakpoint and the log, I
see in the log : "Redirected

NameError Exception
Ruby/Rails n00b here so go easy on me...
I''ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what is wrong here.
I''ve checked all my models for the appropriate belongs_to, has_many,
etc. I''ve checked to make sure I''m using singular and plurals in the
right spot. I''ve checked my syntax around all my "within"''s and nothing

Troubleshooting "undefined class/module"
I''m having a bit of a headbanger here... maybe someone can help.
A class in a fairly complicated existing Rails app that I''m working on

2005 a send_file odyssey (or Rails and Apache don''t always play well)...
Hi,
I''m developing a Rails application that (amongst other things)
lets users download media files. These files range in size
from a few kilobytes up to several gigabytes.
All this development is taking place with Rails 1.0 on a
Solaris host with Ruby 1.8.2 and Rails mode set to
"development".
I''m using the Rails send_file method to send each file with

[PATCH] TestResponseBehavior#binary_content calls block improperly
(In lieu of the broken bug-tracker)
TestResponseBehavior#binary_content calls the block generated by
send_file with no parameters. But the block created at http://
dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/trunk/actionpack/lib/action_controller/
streaming.rb#L68 expects a response and an output stream.
The following patch corrects the block.call in binary_content at

Hi everyone,
I have been introduced to ruby on rails a couple of days ago and it
really brings out the fun in programming for the Web. I''m trying to
implement a text_field_with_auto_complete as described in
script.aculo.us , as follows:
controller:
class SearchController < ApplicationController
auto_complete_for :recipe, :name
end

Newbie: Cookbook Application problem with MYSQL
Hi everybody,
I''ve been reading lot of material about Ruby on Rails, and it looks like
really rocks.
I''ve downloaded the one-click version for Windows and started to build
the example cookbook app, found in:
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html?page=1
Everything looks good, but when I''m trying to create a new Recipe

Newbie question: scaffold not working
I went through a tutorial at
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html?page=1 to get
started with RoR. I really like the idea of the scaffold construct, but
I can''t seem to get it to work the way it was described in the tutorial.
I''ve got a mysql database that is properly configured, and a table

Newbie: undefined method (backtick)body(quote) equals error
I have set up a simple test of a questionnaire; I have a set of

for a given question, but when trying any of the CRUD operations on the
responses side, I get a cryptic error, to which I see no reference to

Thank you for the fast responses, I really appreciate. I really enjoy being
a part of such a great community.
I still could not solve my problem. To make sure that I can not connect
beacuse of access rights, I have started mysql server --skip-grant-tables

to read in this list, but 4 AM in the morning, I had hard
