matplot
matplot doesn't seem to pass through options like lwd, cex, etc. quite the way I'd like. I've thought of two ways to fix this, I don't know which is better. The first is to treat lwd, cex, etc., exactly like the other options (col, lty ...) -- (these diffs are long, skip down two pages if you want to see the other way) *** matplot.orig Tue Jan 13 18:17:54 1998 ---

Samba 2.2.6 leaks file descriptions!
Hi My server has ran out of file descriptors(FDs) a few times since 2.2.5 up to 2.2.6. When looked into the problem I found a lot of smbd processes that had hundreds of open FDs. I am on RH 7.2. Any ideas? I have compiled the sources form SAMBA_2_2 CVS branch from yesterday. usally I just specify the --prefix= parameter to configure before I do make clean;make; make install I also noticed

Best Practices for Data Recovery for corrupted EXT2/3?
Hey all.. I had a bad IDE controller that hosed my EXT3 filesystems. A resulting fsck damaged pat of the filesystem and the root inode is gone (on my main drive AND the backup drive). I immediately DD'd the main drive over to an identical drive that I have been working on. But every time.. a fsck destroys all the data (moves everything to lost+found) and nothing that I've found

Email dictionary attacks and firewall
I keep seeing 'Joe Average compromised computer on broadband' being used to do email dictionary attacks on our systems. Seems I always have several domains going through these. One in particular has been in the 'a-' list for weeks with about 20,000 attempts per day from various systems. Yeah, I do have a system which blocks email from these systems for a period of time after 3

Named numeric vectors with the same value but different names return different results when used as thresholds for calculating true positives
Dear List, I have encountered an odd problem that I cannot understand. It stems from the calculation of true and false positives based on two input vectors x and y based on different thresholds of x, extracted using the quantile function. I am in certain cases getting different values of true positives for the same threshold value when the threshold was found under different quantiles (e.g. the

SEM model testing with identical goodness of fits
HI, I am testing several models about three latent constructs that measure risk attitudes. Two models with different structure obtained identical of fit measures from chisqure to BIC. Model1 assumes three factors are correlated with each other and model two assumes a higher order factor exist and three factors related to this higher factor instead of to each other. [LLVMdev] MachO non-external X86_64_RELOC_UNSIGNED
Thank you for the explanation. Does that mean r_symbolnum is basically redundant in that case? Also, let me ask you how to handle the following use case which is somewhat related. Currently in MCJIT for MachO we are relocating all the debug sections. Eventually (as ELF does), it would be good to avoid this. However, this means that the debugger would have to handle relocations (as lldb currently

patch to change sprintf to snprintf in inet_ntop.c for SunOS4
I found that inet_ntop.c was depending on the return value of sprintf to return an int, but on SunOS4 it returns a char *. Snprintf is preferred anyway, so here's a patch to change the calls to use snprintf. Applies cleanly to the current CVS, and it was the only patch I need to apply to get 2.9p1 to build on SunOS4.1.4. On the other hand, I can't see any where inet_ntop is called, and
